You also can burn them to CD, which is a poor man's backup.

is there anywhere on the net where one can download tv shows, music videos asides from itunes?

Something I find weird. The mp3s that I have downloaded from one of the popular file sharing sites sound better (and play louder) than the mp3s ripped from the actual cds. can anyone explain this.

the mp3's that you are ripping from CD's were probably ripped in a very low quality.... Most rippers have settings that are like good, better, best... and the ones that you are ripping were probably ripped in the "good" setting...

Yeah its all about what bitrate someone or you ripped from the source (type of source also makes a difference). The most common nowadays is either 192kbps and something around 230kbps VBR from what I've seen (still sounds good and not much of a dropoff). It really just depends on your own preference and remember the higher the bitrate, the bigger the file.

thanks. I was thinking something like that was happening. Does WMP have an option to increase the quality?

if you buy the right software you can rip from your own CD at some extreme bitrates. 320 would be considered low with some programs.

I don't need that high. 192 is just fine.

Well mine broke after like 2 weeks. Be advised... don't put them under your foot and apply pressure.

This pair I have now have been good for over couple months now.
