Re: Official iPod Thread
Okay, I really need help.
I use my iPod in the car, and I was riding into work this morning and it was fine. I put it on pause around 10am. About 2pm, I hop back in my truck, and notice that the screen is up. I start to p[ush play, and other assortment of buttons. Nothing works. The hold button isn't on or anything.
Finally, I get home...look up some info about resetting it and read about toggling the hold button on and off and then pushing menu and play/pause at the same time and hold it down for 6-10 seconds. Tried it...didn't work.
I've plugged it into my computer...it's not reading the ipod, nor charging it.
I've only had it since July, and I've been extremely gentle with it. Never dropped it or anything. I don't know what could be the problem.

Re: Official iPod Thread
Keep holding down on the Menu and Select Button, and toggle the hold button. My Ipod freezes up like this all the time.Owner, Spear Interactive

If you still have problems with it, see if you can look up the closest store near you and take it in. I think they have a 1-year warranty. If there are none by you, check and see what you have to do in order to get a replacement. Good luck with that on the real.Comment

Re: Official iPod Thread
Very weird, I got back in tonight and it was turned off. So I plugged it back into the computer and it started charging.
Now it works.

Re: Official iPod Thread
I was running on the treadmill this past weekend and had my iPod nano stowed away in a crevice on the control panel. As I was jogging in stride, my arm tripped up the headphone cord and the nano was sent hurtling to the treadmill with a sickening thud. The nano was then promptly ejected in the air from the moving treadmill onto the hard floor beneath.
I sported a look of horror and astonishment on my face that would surely crack the pantheon of faces, all while trying not to fall off the treadmill myself. Thankfully nobody else was in the gym to witness my incredible clumsy act. I quickly paused the beast machine and attended to my iPod.
No screen crackage. Not a scratch. I pressed play and continued listening. Rock on.
These things are built like f'n tanks. Of course, the device probably would have been damaged had I not been sporting my kickass case.
Here's the case I have. If that isn't a great testimonial for a product, I don't know what the hell is.. These CoreCase guys should provide me a kickback or something..Comment

Re: Official iPod Thread
So uh you mean without it syncing to your iPod and you don't lose your songs? Well you can't pull songs off of your iPod using iTunes, but you can use Sharepod which is what I use. To turn off the iTunes synching to your iPod and erasing your stuff...when you hook up your iPod...goto Manually Sort Music on the iPod menu in iTunes. That way you won't lose your stuff.Comment

Re: Official iPod Thread
I have what may be a real silly question....
I have no idea how to bring up the list of songs that are currently on my ipod in itunes. In previous versions of itunes, if I just clicked on the ipod device in the source list it would display all of them, but on this version of itunes (7.0 I believe?) all it does is show a generic picture of my type of ipod and some info about it, including how much memory I have used and how much I have free.
When I click on library, it only shows the last batch of songs I put on it. Am I just missing something really simple here?Comment

Yes. Click on the triangle next to the device. It will show you other things to click on, like "Music" "Audiobooks", and all the stored playlists.I drive a 2005 Toyota Prius Gas/Electric Hybrid. My last tank was 53.6 miles/gallon. Gas prices fear me!
