Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
I just saw it a few hours ago, it was great. The Joker was played great, I wouldn't mind to see it again just to see Ledger's performance again.WUSTLComment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Watching it the second time is actually much better than the first time. You get to pick up on little details, even if it's the planning of the music in the background or what music is being played (it's awesome how the road chase scene is quiet until one specific, perhaps spoilerific part). I highly recommend the second viewing.
I simply can't wait until this is on Blu-ray!Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Definitely, for such a long film a second viewing is a must. Plus I watched a 1:25 AM showing, and I had had a full day already. There were certain major parts I didn't understand, and did not figure out even after reading blogs/wiki pages/etc concerning the movie.Watching it the second time is actually much better than the first time. SpoilerLike the boat thing.. why were they on boats? My friends told me it was to evacuate people.. but why was there only one boat of civilians? I didn't get that, and that's because I was getting really really sleepy. Shame on me.Comment

SpoilerLike the boat thing.. why were they on boats? My friends told me it was to evacuate people.. but why was there only one boat of civilians? I didn't get that, and that's because I was getting really really sleepy. Shame on me.SpoilerThe Joker captured Mike Engel outside the hospital and made him do a "special report" saying that Joker was to rule the streets of Gotham and anyone left there by dark would be subject to his rule (this is the scene as you see people watching on TV in a bar). As they start to leave, he also notes that the bridges and tunnels bear surprises (or something to that effect), so they took ferries out of there (Gordon's suggestion, I believe).
Why are there only two ferries and not say, six? I don't know. But Gordon also suggested that the prisoners do not stay in Gotham as they're evacuating. They can't keep murders and rapists in the streets, and keeping them in prisons, The Joker could have plans to evacuate them on his own behalf with however it is he does half of the things he does (which might have been one of his plans that Gordon didn't want to risk), so they were getting all of the convicts on the other side of the water to lock them up there, then returning for the rest of the civilians.
I don't remember if there was a reason for them not to leave by air, except perhaps that Gotham City didn't have an airport.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I'm watching a crappy version illegally right now and the ending with Oldman's dialogue nearly brings me to tears, no lie.Originally posted by EWRMETSMaybe the best post in OS's history. If you don't think Tony Romo is a Hall of Famer, you support al Qaeda.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Great Post. I've been saying this to every one. Every actor in this movie gave spectacular performances. You could really feel the goodness of Harvey, Bruce, etc. and the desperation of all the characters.Ledger's going to get all the attention, and its well deserved, but I want to give the rest of cast some credit as well.
I think we'll all are already just taking Bale's work for granted. Its like MJ going 32/8/8/3 in '89 and not winning the MVP.
Caine and Freeman quietly brilliant. Gyllenhaal solid despite probably having the least to work with.
Eckhart came out of nowhere to deliver a gem of his own. Which is a good thing considering he's probably the fulcrum of the film.
Lastly Gary Oldman. 20 years ago he probably should have been the one to play the Joker instead of Jack. He was the king of those kinds of maniacal roles. To see him now play Mr Pragmatic, Jim Gordon, who is the true polar opposite of the Joker, is quite a turn. His work is being taken for granted too.
And like you said, Aaron Eckhart gave the performance of his life. You could feel his desire, his need for the city to be good, and for it to be done not by Batman. The movie really did a good job of showing the audience that Harvey Dent was the White Knight, the role of Bruce Waynes father.
Christian Bale also deserves massive amount of recognition and appreciation for his role as Batman. He's truly become Bruce Wayne and Batman. He makes it so obvious that Bruce Wayne is really two people with common interest.Comment
