Well for starters it isnt just a couople bucks, the tickets would cost me 27.00 by themselves, another 4.00-6.00 in gas on top of that, or I go 2 minutes up the road and spend 0.00 on gas and 19.00 on tickets, thats 31.00-33.00 compared to 19.00. I simply wanted to know if the difference was worth it seeing as Ive never seen a movie in imax, and in some ways dont even know what the difference is, your comments about me having bigger problems has nothing to do with the question in the end, but thanks anyways.

Yea I mean its all up to you man. I bit the bullet and grabbed the IMAX tix which is about 35 minutes away, and I've never been to one before for a film. But I want everything to be as great as possible with this movie so I did it. I can tell you this, I'm hearing the IMAX-specific scenes are truly mind-blowing, so if that is worth the extra cash then yes. If not, no. If I were any tighter on money right now I probably would have waited on the IMAX. Good luck in the unemployed realm though! Hopefully its over soon

P.S. I believe the difference is something like the IMAX is a humongous dome-like screen that really immerses you in the scenes visualy. With Nolan's filiming using IMAX cameras, its supposed to be out of this world.

Thanks for the input, I probably should have worded my question a little differently. Im more or less trying to figure out what the difference between imax and DLP at the nearest Century Theater is and having never seen an imax movie I figured you guys here would be able to inform me. In the end nobody can really tell me if its worth it, but Im trying to make the best informed decision possible, thanks again.

Yea no prob. Think of it as choosing between watching at a nice big TV at home or your theater down the street. Would you pay the extra for that? It's around the same disparity from what I hear.

Is TDK actually going to be in Imax 3D? That would be insane, I might have to go and see it at the Imax a little after it comes out, unfortunatly when I checked the tickets for the 12:01 Imax showing are already sold out here, they have another showing at 3:00 am but thats too late for a 2:32 movie, I would fall asleep. Friday-Sunday wont work either so I may just wait, and just see it at midnight at the local theater and then see it at the Imax down the road. Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

I don't think so, but still, even if you don't see it for the first time at the IMAX theatre, you should see it again in IMAX.

Not many "big" movies that are IMAX movies are IMAX 3D, not yet at least. The last one I remember was the latest Harry Potter movie.

Considering the local IMax is nearly two hours away, I'll stick with the regular theater.

According to AMC, one of their normal theaters are supposed to debut IMAX screens this month, yet at the theatre they're mum on whether or not I can see TDK in IMAX. You'd think they would make a big deal out of having an imax screen in house but aside from one poster, nothing.

The theater in question is the AMC Hoffmann 22 in VA. Its looking like i'll just pick up regular tix. Then again, the IMAX in chantilly isn't much further, but they're sold out upto Friday @ 11.

The IMAX in my area sucks apparently. Its always being renovated and im terrified to go back there after my last experience.

I guess ill go to the local theater and fight the teenie boppers to get a seat.

I have one about a half hour away in deep downtown of San Francisco. I figure unless I'm going with a few friends I'm probably seeing it in regular theaters.

Mark down Dec 9th on your calender because that's when The Dark Knight comes out on BR. It looks like there won't be any deleted scenes on the disk.
