That and Richardson saying, "I can't remember all thaaaaat!" are probably the two scenes of Deadwood that have triggered the biggest laughs from me.Comment

Richardson is awesome. He always get so much out of so little screen time. Jewel is pretty sweet too. Especially when she gave Dan the finger.Comment

Re: Deadwood - Season 3
Hearst is not so bad in real life (the father of William Randolph Hearst), and was a US Senator until his death. I wonder if they will take liberties with the facts and kill him off. I know Gerald McRaney is slated to appear in "Jerico" this fall.Comment

Re: Deadwood - Season 3
Interesting findings on Alan Graf, the guy who played Captain Joe Turner:
He is one of Hollywood's premier 2nd unit directors and stunt coordinators.
He started (as a guard) on the undefeated (12-0) 1972 USC Trojan National Championship team.
He was one of the heroes of the 1973 Rose Bowl.
He has choreographed the football action for such films as "Any Given Sunday," , "The Replacements," "The Program," "The Waterboy," "Necessary Roughness," the current production "Cheer Up" and "Jerry Maguire."
He wrote the original screenplay entitled "Turning the Tide," a football drama which depicts the historic 1970 gridiron contest between McKay's USC Trojans and Bear Bryant's Crimson Tide. The film is currently in development.Comment

Re: Deadwood - Season 3
[ "Friday Night Lights" second unit director Allan Graf has signed on to direct "Turning the Tide" according to The Hollywood Reporter. Graf co-wrote the project with John Ledesma based on a story by John Papadakis. It centers on the September 12, 1970, college football showdown between the all-white Alabama Crimson Tide - led by the legendary Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant - and the integrated USC Trojans. It's a game frequently mentioned as one of the most important moments in US sport. Graf himself was a USC football player at the time.]
This project has been in the works for some time (the cited article above is dated October 12, 2004). Bryant agreed to play the Trojans in the first "integrated" Bama football game (all the black players were on USC) and were crushed 41-21. Bryant and other southern football coaches realized that ignoring the black talent pool was too much of a disadvantage and used black players the following year. For the record USC was ranked #15(AP) and #19 (UPI) that year while Bama finished out of the top 20. Next season(1971) an integrated Bama team finished #4 (AP) and #2 (UPI) before winning a share of the 1973 National Championship (UPI version) despite losing 24-23 to co and AP champion Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.At that time the polls and awarding of the mythical crown were set before the bowls.Comment
