Worldwide. In America it's gone 9x. The only rap albums to go diamond in the US are Life After Death, Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em, and Hybrid Theory (if you want to count it). That's it.

Also, you will find many people who think Makaveli was a hotter album than AOEM. AOEM was another double album that should have been just 1 album. It was way bloated and really only had a few good songs imo.
Disk #2 of AEOM sucked, but just about every song on disk #1 was good.

Pac would have dropped Makaveli even if he didnt die because he was in a rush to get out of the Death Row contract and needed 3 more albums to do it.

You're forgetting one key fact, Big was apart of PDiddy's Bad Boy Camp. Name me one rapper who actually survived more than 3 albums. Yes, Big was Diddy's heart and soul but who knows how long that relationship would of lasted with Diddy's jerk-a-thon music business practices still in effect. Diddy would'nt be where he's at unless Big died. Pac put Big in the spotlight cause frankly, I know many ppl who did'nt even know who Big was until Pac dissed him.

Also, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Hypnotize from Life after Death dropped almost immediately following Bigs death. Not while he was living. I can still sort of remember them debuting it and commenting on how happy Big was at the time which made his death so tragic.

He'd have been popular anywhere with his catchy *** songs.

And Pac never sold 10 million albums. The only rappers to sell 10 million are Hammer and BIG, and by some stretch you could maybe include Linkin Park.

I mean, Pac was a great rapper, but saying that if he's not in your top 5 you need to rethink? Personal opinion dude. For every great song he has he has 2 more filler songs. Then again, I'm not a west coast guy.

I'm not a west coast guy ethier but dude has one hell of a cataloge. Did Jay even top the charts with any Reasonable Doubt song? I'm sure Big did with One More Change but I dont think Juicy made much noise outside of NYC. Only thing I renig on is Big being popular without Pacs help. As for Jay, I still dont think so and I'm a big Jigga fan.

Hypnotize was out months before Big's death and I know this because at the party Big attended before he was shot they played Hypnotize and the crowd went wild. The video didnt drop until after his death but the song was a hit before that.

Also if people didnt know who Big was before he dissed him they either werent hip hop fans, never picked up a hip hop magazine from 93-96 or are lying.

Also, comparing Big to other Bad Boy artists is unfair. No other Bad Boy rapper had a huge first record like Big. If Big stayed alive, Diddy would be stupid to jerk his biggest artist out of publishing or points on a record. The reason why Diddy does it now is because he is the biggest rapper on his label so he doenst really need them.

Jay didnt top the charts until Hard Knock Life. Juicy and Big Poppa were top twenty songs though. I was in Atlanta at the time and those songs were huge down there.

As for Puff...ahem, Diddy, he was jerking his artist before and after Big came along. If Jigga and Dame can split a highly successful relationship, Big and Diddy could of. I think Diddy's problem is he wanted to be the center of attention on his label despite that fact he has no rapping skills.

I thought this thread was gonna have lyrics...BOOO!!!

"I wanna be a balla pleez,
but tha bitches & tha liquor keep on callin me
                        "

"Before I let her get me, I got her
Went in her purse took a hundred dollars
                        ***** I'm so Skandalouz
                        "
2Pac - Skandalouz (All Eyez On Me - Disc 1)

                        Heres another good quote...

"I would share the defination of ballin with you white folks

                        BUT NO!
                        "

I'm not saying that they wouldnt have split eventually (everybody does) im just saying that he wouldnt have jerked Big like he did the Lox or G. Dep or Black Rob.

Who do you mean when you say that Puffy jerked artists before Big. Bad Boy's first three signings were Craig Mack, Big and 3rd Eye. 3rd Eye never dropped an album and Mack left because he didnt want to do that "shiny suit" **** that Mase and the Lox were doing for his second album. IMo, he didnt start jerking artists until he became a star.

Bad Boy fell apart after BIG died. They could ride the wave for a few years, but BIG was their only consistantly good artist of whom Bad Boy actually made albums. Puffy no longer had someone to ride and put all his eggs in one basket. His other rappers were LOX, Lil Kim, Mase, and... All were somewhat popular but not enough to carry a label. Then Mase and LOX disapeared until 2004/2005 and then disapeared again. Same thing happened to the west coast when Pac died. All the rappers who got by by just rapping with Pac no longer had that. Had Big have not died Bad Boy would have stayed on top for a while.

Personally, a huge part of Pac's popularity now is how good his music collection was handled in post death releases. Not a year goes by where you don't hear a nice song released either by him or with him in it. He gets remixes from top artists and the people featured in his post death songs either knew him and obviously fit well (Outlawz) or are top west coast artists. BIG on the other hand is unheard of nowadays. The best song he's featured on wasn't even a single (Victory 2004, the origonal was, but the remix is so much better).

[QUOTE=aholbert32][QUOTE=Graphik]I'm not a west coast guy ethier but dude has one hell of a cataloge.

Jay didnt top the charts until Hard Knock Life. Juicy and Big Poppa were top twenty songs though. I was in Atlanta at the time and those songs were huge down there.
I still feel that Reasonable Doubt is Jay's best LP.

Oh definently..it just wasnt a hit. The album didnt go certified platinum until a few years ago. Hard Knock Life wasnt a great album but it went 4x platinum.
