I just started watching last year, and I watched season #1 right about this time. I've watched season 2 and 1/3 into season 3.

There are so many characters on the show, sometimes it's hard to get attached to them.

I would think 24 would welcome late bloomers.

You could say that about his wife, Jack's wife in the first season, David Palmer etc., etc.-Let's face it, 24 kills off too many characters.

See I think killing off Jack's wife is completely different than Tony. It was only season 1 and a good way to setup the entire show for the future, kill off the wife and look how much it has been involved nearly every season and showed that there wasn't really any length 24 wouldn't go.

David Palmer was fairly pointless though it did setup the plot of Season 5. But Tony's death was just simply the worst, having no impact whatsoever.

Most powerful death in the show, in my mind, was Chappelle's. Serioulsy, that may be my favorite TV-show moment ever. Very powerful.

Palmer's and Tony's pissed me off - really didn't care about Edgar, or Michelle.

I agree with you about chappelle's death. His death was by far the most powerful and shocking.

However, I found edgars death to be quite saddening to be honest. Even though I wasn't a big fan of his, the way it happened was kind of sad.

It was sad, no doubt, but it didn't stick with me after that episode like Tony's or Palmer's did.

But Chappelle's...powerful, moving, shocking...it was just amazing.

I would say that 9/11 definitely was the main cause for the initial low viewership, and depressed the word of mouth speed that most top shows get.

Being on FOX also is a major factor. I think that if the show had begun in September of 2000, on NBC, it would be a perennial top 20 show ratings wise.

I would say higher, but the unforgivable continuity definitely turns a lot of people off. I'm in the camp that believes that missing any of the episodes(even scenes for that matter) greatly lessens the experience of the show.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Fox usually has 10-15% less affiliates than the other major networks, so that probably is a factor. Current Nielsen Ratings have only one Fox show( House,#18) in the Top 20.

I did my best to resist but the 4 episodes inside my laptop were taunting me.... and I caved in.

I thought last season's first 4 episodes were the greatest in 24 history (in terms of starting off the season). Well that has changed now I've seen the first 4 episodes of Season 6.

I know 24 is all about expect the unexpected, but I'm still rattled by what I witnessed.

We should all welcome back the best show on TV.

I caved as well. Well. partially. I watched the first 2 episodes and it definitely gets heated.

Don't worry guys, you won't be disappointed a bit.

Great news about the start of this season then.

Maybe I'm in the minority but Tony was getting a bit annoying for me last year and when they killed him off it didn't really bother me. Palmer shocked and saddened me more than anyone. I did feel sorry for Edgar but there is just one more uber nerd that needs to go and that's Chloe. I don't mind Chloe but would a real CTU have all these social leppers employed?

                              The Jack Bauer action figure:

                              Atlanta Braves
                              - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

This is so true. I started watching Season 5 last year. This year I caught up on the 1st 4 seasons and re-watched season 5 and Tony, Michelle, and Palmer's death really is something. Last year when I was watching, it didn't seem like THAT big of deal but it really was.
