    Re: The Prestige

Good movie. I feel a little letdown because of the secrets about how the two magicians do the big trick. I wuold explain better, but I'm not going to post spoilers. Also, they try to go out with a bang on the very last frame of the movie, which is a good idea, except that everybody watching already had that "shocking" development figured out at least 20 minutes before the movie ended. Overall it was pretty good, I just think it goes for far too long as a completely plausible movie before it turns into something different which almost makes the whole payoff feel a little cheap.

They do a good job of confusing the viewers about who they should be rooting for, many of the twists are pretty unexpected.

Oh yeah, forgot to answer that.

Hmm... I think that is possibly how it is done. Unfortunately.

Just got back from this movie.

          AWESOME AWESOME flick.

Christopher Nolan, after Memento, Batman Begins, and this is probably a favorite director right now.

That..and he probably listens to the Cure a lot and is probably not the happiest of folks.

The DVD has been out for two weeks or so and I really want to pick it up, but I'm not sure if a Special Edition is in the works or not - does anybody know?

AWESOME. I thoroughly, 100% enjoyed it. Great, great flick.

Didn't it just come out on DVD three days before you posted this?

Thought this was a pretty good movie. I'd rate it a 8/10.

I found it to be predictable but the movie did a good job of keeping me wondering if I was right. Definitely an enjoyable flick.

I think you're right, but I still want to know if there's a special edition in the works. Apparently Nolan didn't do a commentary, so I'm not sure whats up.

I just bought it last night. No commentaries. I also asked Target if there were any other versions. He said no, but I'm sure he wouldn't be aware if any more were coming out, either.

Without giving anything away, I don't think they planned on a major twist, only one for sure, but the others weren't necessarily "twists", just things that we already knew and had to put the pieces together.

When you watch this movie a second time, pay close attention to every piece of dialogue, and see exactly how many times the movie clues you with things. It's very interesting how writers/directors can do that without necessarily giving things away.

I did notice all of that when watching it. I guess I just like movies where I'm somewhat surprised by the outcome. And I wasn't by this one.

Well, I never really came in seeing this movie expecting a big twist, so I can't really say that I was let down. Unfortunately, the way that it was made it does sort of feel like that they did "twist" the end, but a lot was given away, like you said.

Either way, I loved this movie. Terrific!
