    A Look Into The Past...

I was just thinking...with all these new gadgets we have such as HDTV, Xbox360, Ipods, fancy computers, etc, how many of us have forgotten what used to be?

Think about the games back in Elementary school....when you played on a Macintosh PC. Games like old school Oregon Trail, Word Munchers, Number Munchers, and of course, Kid Pix. When you'd make a mistake and erase it and it'd go OH NO! or if you wanted to erase the hole picture, you'd bomb it.

Or you had the floppy disk...

    How about AOL 2.0?

What are some of your old school memories of stuff, whether it be Nintendo, Atari, etc. It could be an old TV, when you first got basic cable and that was a big deal.

Just post pics or old memories...this should be a fun thread.

What about the old school VCR with the wire to record. Or the old school microwave that took 5 people to move. I am really showing my age with those 2. Can't forget the answering machine with the tapes.

I remember getting cable like in '82 or 3. The movie "The Outsiders" was playing and I was like "I will never leave the house again!" We had like 20 channels, every week we'd get a little TV listing booklet in the mail and me and my sister would fight to see what would be on.

Never had AOL, I had Prodigy. No clue whatever happened to it.

I loved my Atari 2600 and then the 7800. Played those night and day. I remember playing the Activison games, and sending in a picture to get an "Achievement Score" patch. LOL

Prodigy was awesome! It seemed liked it was a couple years b4 the internet boom. I remember playing the weekly Where in the world is Carmen Sandeigo sp? Games.

The old IBM, I remember playing Madden and Hardball to death.

And remember those police quest games! Those rocked the house.

I remember using those huge floppy disks to play games when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade. I forgot what the games were but I remember I had a great time playing them.

                              Eli,

It wasn't an Apple Macintosh...it was actually an Apple IIe. That's the one that most of the schools had back in the day.

Anyone remember how to reboot? Control-Open Apple-Reset...

I was a Prodigy member, too. I was also a Co-Sysop on a local BBS in Charlotte. That was actually pretty fun. I considered it an untapped resource of girls because most of the guys my age who were members were stereotypical computer geeks.

Me, on the other hand? I was 16-17 years old, an athlete who played baseball and football in HS. I was not a computer geek. And the females were pretty cute, too. I used to love it when our BBS had our monthly "get togethers" at a park, a pool hall, a bowling alley, etc. Those girls were usually flirting with me left and right...meanwhile the other dudes couldn't stand me.
