If memory serves me correctly, that was her husband and the crew of the ship she was on. I also believe that Rousseau herself said she had to kill her husband because of his "sickness." As far as I know, all she has said of Alex was that "they" took her.

Alex's boyfriend being brainwashed reminded me of what we saw in Walts comic back in season 1.
Its interesting how that comic references a bunch of other things like the polar bears and this image of what looks like to be an island being surrounded by some force field.

I'm disappointed about Ethan dying.
I think he could have been a great character to have around right now. Yea, we'll see more of him in flashbacks, but damn that guy just looked sick in the head.
Also, Dr. Albert...I feel like I've seen him somewhere before. Was it on Lost or some other show/movie?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Couple of thoughts:
-The way they were brainwashing the kid was just nuts...I wonder what purpose that served.
-How did the Others have enough power to actually hit him with a bus?
-Why wont they let Juliette go?
-If she wanted to kill Ben so badly why did she kill her own man just so he'd live?

The most surprising thing for me about this episode (aside from the bus) was Juliette gunning down Danny at the end. She's clearly desperate to get off that island and she clearly wasn't going to let him ruin her opportunity by re-abducting Kate and Sawyer.
Prior to this episode, I was starting to think that Juliette was the one calling the shots - the true leader of the Others. I guess that's shot to hell. Now I have many questions about the doctor who was with Ethan when they met Juliette....who is this guy? Is he still alive? Is he the leader of the Others?Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.Comment

Interesting episode last night. So much happened and so many questions were raised. I can't wait until next week.
I got the impression that the Doctor who was with Ethan was the leader of the Others. Of course, I've been more wrong than right when it's come to this show.Comment

Seeing Trixie and Calamity Jane in Lost and Powers Boothe in 24 so soon after the show ended makes me think of Deadwood. Then, I start missing that show while trying to enjoy the show I'm currently watching.Comment

Great episode, easily the best all year. I still don't think Ben is "the man" per say. I even question Dr. Albert being the leader.
Well, my excitement is back for the show 10 fold.Comment
