After the storm in St. Louis last night some cities around this area are estimated to be without power for the next 4-5 days, I can't imagine that. Most I've ever had was 2 days and that was miserable.

Heh, I remember that, I was playing Madden (why I remember that, I dunno).

It was just brutal, I almost slept on my porch because it was so hot inside.

Where in Queens did you live? I lived in Maspeth until last year when I moved to Arizona. But i had my vacation in Sunnyside this summer.

Yea it did. My inlaws in Berwyn just got theirs back this morning. My sister in kimberton has to wait until Sunday.

We got ours back 8pm on Wednesday, like I said, 25 hours later.

I still live in Queens. Technically, it's Hillcrest...but the Co-Ops I live in uses Kew Garden Hills...but my mail uses a post office in Flushing...I'm literally in the middle of Flushing, Kew Gardens, Briarwood and Jamaica. I usually tell people I'm from Flushing.

Back in 1994, we had an Ice Storm in the Mid South. For us, our power was only out 3 days. In North Mississippi, some places were out for close to a MONTH.

I talked to my boy from Astoria again today and he said the rumor down there is that power won't be back until Wednesday, giving them 10 st raight days w.o power.

What's making it worse right now are thunderstorms we've been having all day. On and off all day. The downpour and thunder & lightning are nuts. Manholes are exploding and Con-Ed can't get down to where they have to go.

Damn, my TV just started to flicker...

That's funny, I didn't live too far from you... My Dad always used to take me to the Carvel near Flushing Avenue when it was hot... I lived on Starr St., down one block from Cypress Ave., before we moved to North Carolina. I always drove through Maspeth when we would go to Queens Center Mall.

That NE blackout of a couple years ago was crazy. I got stuck at work overnight, which turned out to not be such a bad thing. We had a backup generator in our building, so we weren't uncomfortable. And then since everything shut down, all the stuff in the office cafeteria was free.... The kitchen staff hadn't left yet, so they made a nice little dinner for us, and also a nice breakfast the next morning. And the best part, someone broke out the stash of liquor that the partners had on the 19th floor, so there was a conference room full of alcohol... Needless to say, we got blitzed that night. I didn't get home till like 4 the next afternoon.

Ya same for me. Had a huge street wide BBQ during it, but lost the majority of our food in the freezers and fridge. That first night was the worst sleep I've ever had, the heat was brutal.

We had a pretty crazy blackout in Fresno one time, in the middle of August (August 10th, I believe). Temps were hitting 110-115. It was bad. I remember Target was the only place with a generator so everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was there.

I got a Gameboy and a couple games out of it, to keep me occupied!
