Yeah, I know exactly where that is... I always thought of that Carvel as being on Flushing Avenue, since it's the way that we would drive over there, but I keep forgetting that it turns into Grand Avenue after it connects with Flushing.... When did they tear that one down? That actually makes me a little sad, as it was a sort of landmark of my childhood.... I hope the one on Metropolitan is still open when I go back to visit.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but in '94 or '95 the south got hit by a pretty big ice storm. In NC, we didn't have power for 5 days or so.

All the old fashioned Carvels have been torn down in Queens. The one on Metro is gone. It's a Commerce Bank. There was one by me on Union Tpk. that was huge. Tore it down for an SJU speech center. Now they just have little store fronts in those areas.

You've gotta be kidding me... That Italian restaurant is gone, too?!?!?

I can't believe that the Carvel on Metropolitan was replaced by a Commerce Bank... They had just put one up a little further up, on the corner of Metro and Fresh Pond Rd.

There's also a Commerce Bank on Metro and 80th St. across from the cemetary.

BTW, still no progress on the parts of Queens with no power. Con Ed officially said they have no idea when it'll be restored.

I experienced tons of these during my vacation in the Philippines. Darn Tropical Storm Bilis.

                    Longest was about a day.

They did it today to me in the middle of this hot weather.

I knew it wasnt just by happenstance. Funny to hear people on the East coast talking about it. SCE stinks
