Re: Is the the Foo Fighters- Everlong
Nirvana cut plenty of good songs, but the only one I would consider 'greater' than Everlong is Teen Spirit for its popularity and impact. I like Nirvana better as a band so i like a lot of their songs better than most, say, Led Zeppelin songs. I like "Drain You" better than Stairway To Heaven, but ask my the 'greatest' songs ever and Drain You will be nowhere to be found. There is a difference between personal favorites and all-time greats.Comment

Re: Is the the Foo Fighters- Everlong
Love the lyrics, and LOVE the music, definitely one of my favorite songs in history.
However, it's not one of THE best songs in history by any means (on a public scale).Comment

To be technical, there are 9 of us who consider it one of the greats.

Re: Is the the Foo Fighters- Everlong
As for the actual song, whenever I hear it hasn't really stood out to me other than the acoustic live version. There are a handful of Foo songs I enjoy a lot more and even more songs from Dave's work with Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 09-07-2006, 10:11 PM.

"Abbey Road"? Is that the first Nickleback album? I didn't start liking them until they got popular, I heard it is pretty good though.Comment

Agreed pk. Nirvana blows Foo Fighters completely out of the water and into outer space IMO.How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

You have to be kidding. They even said when Nirvana got Dave as a drummer then they really took off. Dave gets no love. not only is one of the greatest drummers he is great at writing lyrics and is funny as hell too! Nirvana was great no doubt, but blowing Foo fighters out of the water come on!Comment

Grohl is awesome. Speaking of him, he hasn't come into Baskin for a while, hmm....Comment

Re: Is the the Foo Fighters- Everlong
Not really. A list of all-time greats is just a compendium of the personal favorites of fans and critics.
It's still a matter of personal opinion, whether it's one guy on a message board or a cover story in Rolling Stone.
Take care,

If you're not kidding, maybe now I know why you think "Everlong" is one of the best rock songs of all time.

Try to listen to the entire album in one sitting, if possible. At least listen to each side in one sitting. A lot of the songs on Side Two blend into one another, so you really can't appreciate the brilliance if you listen to it piecemeal.
As a metal fan, you need to pay attention to the short, crunchy guitar solo by George Harrison between the end of "Golden Slumbers" and the start of "The End." It's blistering.
Enjoy!
