Re: The Wire - Season 4

Season 1 was intense from start to finish.

Season 2 started pretty slowly but hit like Marvin Hagler from about episode 4 or 5 to the finish. I thought the final two or three episodes of Season 2 were as taut or even more than anything in Season 1.

Picking favorite seasons of "The Wire" is like choosing supermodels or exotic sports cars. You can't lose either way.

Take care,

Yeah, even when you knew he was gay. But Rawls wasn't dressed like this.

Very deep into SEASON 4 (Watching it on ON DEMAND), and it's obvious that Mcnulty is rarely shown. Dominick West (McNulty) is the topped billed actor on the show but has been virtually MIA for SEASON 4.

Dominic West wanted to take some time off last year to spend with his family and work on movies.

Oh, thanks AH. On a sidebar, I didn't know that West was British (So is the guy that played Stringer Bell). Here's a (very) short clip of West accidentally leaking out his true accent during a scene from the show. I saw this scene, but can't recall the "leak" unless it was done over again. Remember when McNulty did a British accent when posing as a rich john from England?

I think I was 100% positive McNulty's character is an actual Irish man. As for Stringer Bell, I found out he's a British native on ESPN, of all places. He was playing pool with somebody, the name escapes my head right now, and he was talking about how it's difficult for him to hold back his accent on the show. He doesn't have to worry about that right now.

I have no idea, I only watched the show on HBO.
Anyways, in related news Snoop and Tony Yayo made a rap track together. haha

EDIT: While I'm hoping to find the ESPN segment with Idris Elba and oh I think it was Roy Jones...or the other british boxer Lennox Lewis, that's it!....here's an article from ESPN. Nice to know many MD local stars enjoy the show.

So yeah, upon the completion of my seach; I couldn't find the actual clips but it was ESPN's The Hook-up with Lennox Lewis and Idris Elba. On Espn, they have all of the shows but this one..

Also, to answer your ? regarding season 3 dvd, here's what I found

On the season 3 wire dvd you get the following features:

Museum of Television and Radio Panel featuring the cast and crew - Unraveling the Wire

See Idris Elba discuss the death of his character, Stringer Bell!

David Simon at Eugene Lang College

5 audio commentaries featuring the creators of The Wire including series creator David Simon, best selling author and series writer George Pelecanos, and screenwriter/author Richard Price (Spike Lee's Clockes)

The Wire is not about Jimmy McNulty. Or Avon Barksdale. Or crime. Or punishment. Or drugs. Or violence. Or even race. It is about The City.

It is about how we live as Americans at the millennium, an urban people compacted together. Sharing a common love, awe, and fear of what we have rendered in Baltimore, St. Louis, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. At best, our metropolises are the ultimate aspiration for the American community, the repository for every myth from rugged individualism to the melting pot. At worst, our cities—or those places in our cities where most of us fear to tread—are vessels for the darkest contradictions and most brutal competitions that underlie the way we actually live together.
- David Simon

Jaybee, that scene you showed was on the season 3 dvd set. Good good stuff, from the writers and producers of the show. I really liked the Q and A, talked a lot about the accuracy of the show.

Dominic West and Idris Elba are amazing actors. I had no idea Stringer was really British! I remember seeing Dominic West as one of the rockstars in Mark Walbergs 'Rockstar' movie pretty funny stuff. I can't wait to see him in 300 now.

Thanks Mike, AI. I did not know that Dom was in 300. I hope to see them and other members of this great cast in future projects.
