    Re: "The Departed"

Wahlberg wasn't in enough of the movie to win an award, I don't think.

I just saw this last night, and I thought it was brilliant.

    SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

When Marky Mark popped Damon in the end, I thought it was going to be Damon's girl that was in his apt. waiting to kill him. Would've been an interesting ending, I thought.

    END SPOILER

      Re: "The Departed"

Just finished watching it - 2nd time I've seen it, first on DVD - and my God I love this movie.

I almost killed my roomate when he said it was "terribly overrated" and the best comparison he could think of was Boondock Saints. I love that movie, and in terms of 'action' I guess they are similar but the acting in The Departed is what makes this the best movie I've seen in awhile...not the action.

no ****ing way... Boondock Saints is a terribly overrated movie IMO. The Departed disgraces that film many times over.

Does anybody else think if Scorsese wins this year they are going to have re release the dvd with more extras i.e. Director's Commentary?

I agree, I thought Boondock Saints was terrible for some reason, although alot of my friends liked it.

Maybe, but the two-disc set has a lot of good extras already. I'm not too worried about a subsequent release.

                  Absolutely wonderful movie.

One of the best films I have seen in a number of years.

Instant entry into my top five.

There's no way Sheen's character could get cell phone service on that part of the Red Line. No way.

Heh, that little tidbit aside, it was a good flick. Some movies should just be one and done, a sequel would be stupid. However, if Hollywood think it can make more money off of it then they'll do it.

I would really like to see the Asian version, "Internal Affairs" + its sequels "Internal Affairs 1 & 2" to see how they continued that story since this is almost the same.

Because we all know there's no such thing as cell coverage via satellite.

Really? I l loved Boondock Saints. I'm not really into those type of movies, but Boondock Saints was awesome. Willem Dafoe was sick in that movie.

As far as "The Departed", I haven't seen it. But someone at work today told me it was pretty good. I've seen quite a few people pick it up the last few days. I might to check it out.

I agree. I had one of my friends tell me to see it because it was his favorite movie but I thought Boondock Saints was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I felt like the 151 minutes really flew by fast and I'm going to try and check out the Asian originals, "Internal Affairs". I wonder if those deal with the Yakuza?

Not unless the Yakuza migrates from Japan to Hong Kong, LOL:wink:

Wow, finally got the chance to pick this up last night. Aside from what's already been said, this is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and the best Scorcese film, period. Unbelievable performances all around. I think i'm going to watch it again right now as a matter of fact.
