    Re: "The Departed"

Just bought the Blu-ray disc from Best Buy today (using my "Rewards" points). My wife and I will probably sit down tomorrow night and finally watch this HIGHLY anticipated movie!

As an aside, I think I'm going to grow the Amazon route for the rest of my Blu-ray purchases, since they are a dollar plus off of Wal-mart and a good six dollars off of Best Buy. The "Reward Zone" points just don't cut it for that kind of differential .

You missed out on the deal from last year, I get 10% off on top of Amazon's already low prices for all HD DVD's and Blu Ray's.

Hey Johnny, if you don't mind answering, how much did you pay for your Blu-ray? Congrats on the purchase.

Didn't know about that. Great movie btw for anybody who liked the Departed but hasn't seen Goodfellas.

I had a ten dollar off reward certificate but the price on the shelf was $29.99, six dollars more then Amazon (which is why I'm going to go that route).

I finally saw this today and it was pretty good but confusing. I can't wait to see the sequel.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Finally saw it last week. Good, but not as good as I thought it would be considering the actors, the director, the hype, and the awards.

                  ****************SPOILER ALERT************************************

I'm fine with pretty much everybody dying, but they broke a huge rule of storytelling by having that nobody character kill DiCaprio. And then they throw the twist of him killing Leo AFTER he shoots him? Bad sequencing, they should have handled that better.

You might want to give a SPOILER ALERT before you give away key parts of the movie. I know it's been out a while, but some people are just watching it on DVD. PEACE.

done, sorry. I really didn't even think about it since it's been out for so long.

Just saw this on DVD and I agree with those who said the ending seemed thrown together. Lots of people being "offed" in more of a mild shock manner, e.g., Leo gets brains blown out the back of the elevator after all the complexities of the storyline, making one go, "hmmm, didn't see that one coming" in a disappointing tone. This may have been one where I might have actually preferred an alternate ending instead.

Also as far as past Leo works, I don't know why but I thought "This Boy's Life" was pretty unique and interesting. I hope he doesn't turn into another Hollywood quirk-job.....or is it too late for that?

I just got a chance to check it out. My goodness with this movie. Was quite an entertainment. I'm kind of mad that Mark Wahlberg didn't get more time in the movie but Matt & Leonardo did a pretty solid job. This movie got a B on my list. I guess I need to check out Goodfellas now.......

Goodfellas is my favorite Mafia movie. The book the movie is based on is very interesting.
