Re: The Return of BattleStar Galatica (2003)
What's sad is the Sci-Fi will show rasslin but can't continue Battlestar Galatic, an acclaimed show. It just goes to show you, that all that matters is ratings and they will put up crap programming to get that. If you a fan of rasslin that's great, but I don't think it belongs on the Sci-Fi network.
Too bad this show wasn't developed by the BBC or something where they will actually let shows run. Dr. Who, the original ran for 15 seasons. Of course, it wasn't made up of 20 shows like in American television.
Cable TV (Satallite now) was supposed to allow for more programming choices and more "brave" television that the networks woudln't show. Sadly it's making decisions just like network TV, crap shows with decent ratings are better than great shows with struggling ratings. Will they market this shows, nope.
Season 4 of Battlestar will probably be an incomplete, fragmented storyline, just to finish it up to the satisfaction of the suits but will be a disappointment. I hope it doesn't turn out that way.Comment

Now for the wrestling garbage. I completely agree with you. Stargate SG-1 gets cancelled and ECW is shown on a science fiction channel? I just hope Sci-Fi doesn't go the way of G4 and try to be an all-encompassing channel. It should just stick with what it knows.Comment

Your blame is misplaced. Sci-Fi did not cancel the show. The creators decided to end it. I'm sure the executives at NBC are disappointed as well.

Anyway, if the show got good ratings, I think it would run 2-3 more seasons. That's not saying this show can complete its run on top but it just seems they are going to rush the 4th season.
Back to the Sci-Fi network, they are showing the US Open. WTF is that? What's next college football season on the history channel, martha stewart on c-span, music on MTV?Comment

Re: The Return of BattleStar Galatica (2003)
I think the creators were asked "nicely" to end it. If you look at the production values they were top notch so it had to be costing them money. One of the reasons SG1 left Showtime for Sci-Fi, was for the production costs versus the money it brought in.

They werent asked nicely to cancel the show. Sci-Fi actually wanted to do two more seasons but the creators want to work on other projects.
As for wrestling, say what you will but that show is the 2nd or 3rd highest rated show on Sci-fi. ECW gets anywhere from 1.3 million to 2 million viewers a week and that equals ad money and revenue. The reason why the US Open is on Sci fi is because Sci-fi is a NBC Universal owned network (along with Bravo and USA) and NBC wanted to expand its coverage of the US Open this year. NBC could care less if it fits the network as long as it brings in ratings and the US Open and ECW bring in ratings.Comment

Ratings aside, I feel ECW is taking space away from a potential quality science fiction series turns me off to the channel. I know it's not going to change, so complaining does no good, but I will say I watch Sci-Fi far less than I used to. Other than SG-1, Atlantis, PKJ, BSG, and Eureka; I never tune in. Back when movies like Cube and old 80's shows like Buck Rogers and Automan were on, I watched all the time.Comment
