I don't watch what I eat at all, and not because I don't eat unhealthy... it's just not a concern of mine, and I trust myself with eating a good balance of good food and food that's good tasting.

I have no weight problem, in fact, I am a very healthy human being compared to the general public.

People just need to stop worrying about all of it. What did people do back in the day when they didn't have the knowledge that we do today. Judging by pictures, the 18th Century people looked pretty fit to me.
That's because you're 19 and your metabolism is still insane. Give it another 5 years or so.

And as for the bottom line, that's because people weren't lazy asses back then. There were no desk jobs, no fast food, no cars.

People walked a ton and most people were farmers, which is insanely hard work.

Yeah, they looked "pretty fit" because they were, for the most part, doing physical back-breaking work all day, not sitting in front of computers, watching TV, playing games and eating pizza all day.

And, while they might have looked pretty fit because they didn't have the nutritional knowledge and advances in medicine that we do, they didn't live very long.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the change, but the NBA logo just seems like something that shouldn't be touched. It's been the same for so long. But hey, I wouldn't rule out ANYTHING that brings in money for David Stern.

I think Jose Reyes has an outside shot at NL MVP next season.

It also amazes me how good Lil' Wayne has gotten since he started rapping years ago.

How popular he's gotten, or how good he's gotten. I would assume you are talking "good", but I don't see it. I've just seen his popularity rise, and that's about it. Not saying he's talentless, but I don't hear anything special when his songs are on. Nothing that makes me go "Wow", or even "this is good stuff". Not to mention, his voice kills it all for me. If a rapper has an annoying voice, it's all over.

His voice is definitely hit or miss, but it grows on you.

I was talking about how good he's gotten over the years. If you look at his earliest material, he was garbage. Now, go listen to his material off of the Dedication 2, and I'm sure you'll be impressed. Some of his one liners are actually pretty good, and this is coming from a guy that refused to listened to mainstream hip hop for years.

True true, I guess I'll take your word for it and have a listen. I myself don't refuse to listen to mainstream. I just tell the public that I listen to good rap music, and most of it happens to be underground. I think mainstream will begin to get good soon, seeing as cats like 9th Wonder are hooking up with the radio's elite, and making some pretty dope tracks.

I just hope that time comes soon, because I can't take this "Laffy Taffy" garbage anymore.

In my opinion the best team in NFL history is the 1989 San Francisco 49ers. They may not have had the elite defense that the 1985 Bears or 2000 Ravens had, but those teams weren't even close on offense to the 1989 49ers. They had Joe Montana, who for my money is the best QB to ever play, and he was throwing to one of the premier WR duos in NFL history.

Even better then the '94 team?

IMO best team in NFL history has to go to the '85 Bears.

This is for the older folks and i've said it before but since we have some new users i'll repeat it.

Frank Sinatra is NOT the greatest singer of American Standards. Sinatra is great but he did far too many vocal tricks within his singing. This is a very contrarian view but I think the honour should fall to Nat King Cole. Now I don't like some of his songs (not because of his voice but for other reasons) but everything i've heard him sing has a nice, free and easy feel to it. I'm willing to wager if Cole had lived longer and through to the mid '70s his reputation would be bigger today with the general music listener.

I think you could pick just about any 49er team in a 10 year span and they'd be in consideration for best ever.

Re: The Sports and Entertainment Blasphemy Thread

2006, as a whole, has been the worst year in a loooooong time for sports.

'06 couldn't have started off better with one of the best college football Nat'l Title games of all time. It was the most star-studded championship game I've seen since I started following college football and was entertaining as hell from start to finish. After that though, daaaaaaaayum!

The Super Bowl was far and away the worst one I've ever seen. Two average teams that probably wouldn't have won a single playoff game a decade ago, the biggest story of the day was the officiating crew, and the winning team had a QB w. a rating in the low 40's. It was a brutally painful game to watch.

March Madness and the '06 Final Four wasn't much better. Awful quality of play (UConn/Washington comes to mind w. 43 combined TO's in the game) and the biggest snoozer of a Final Four in recent history. The closest game of the entire Final Four was 14 points. 14 points!? And worst of all, the team that won it all probably wouldn't hold a candle against any championship team since the turn of the millenium. Duke and UConn were the consensus Top 2 teams all season long but both were seriously flawed teams.

Next you have the NBA Playoffs/Finals, which were actually the best in a long time, IMO. This was the bright spot of '06. There was alot of excitment starting right from the opening round. D-Wade became an absolute star in front of everyone's eyes this June, leading the revolution and ressurection of the NBA. D-Wade, and the NBA, have a very bright future.

Baseball was okay but nothing special during the regular season. No pitcher won 20 games, the Yanks/Sox rivalry is dead for the time being, though the Tigers turn around is definitely a nice story especially with such a young team contrasting with an "old, hardass manager" to mesh together with great chemsitry. The playoffs have been pretty bad, outside of a few entertaining games in the NLCS and last night's game (Game 4). The Yankees and Twins didn't even put up a fight, the A's are the worst offensive team in the history of organized sports to make a postseason (the Dodgers and Pad's aren't far behind) and the Mets' pitching staff was decimated with injuries. Magglio's walk off HR to win the pennant was a highlight, but it was a sweep over the A's, it would have been much more dramatic if it was a tighter series - like, say, Yadier Molina's! Plus Endy Chavez's catch was the best I've ever seen in a postseason, sorry Willie Mays. Then you have the jackass known as Kenny Rogers (and his 23-inning scoreless streak) and his amazing turn around in the postseason being black-marked by him cheating (clump of dirt? rrrrrright. Baseball fans weren't born yesterday). So the Tigers, the feel good story of '06 and everyone's sweetheart, are about to have their dream season shattered by the "worst team ever to make a World Series". Unless the Tigers do something to climb out of this 3-1 deficit and make this WS very exciting, baseball as a whole will have had a ho-hum year. But hey! At least we didn't have our third straight sweep in the World Series.

Golf has been exciting (for those who enjoy the sport) and Tiger has continued to be a joy to watch, especially following the tragic loss of his father. Nascar, sorry, I don't care about it.

So far, the '06 regular season for college football has been a bit of a bore, just see the thread in the college football forum on OS. Ohio State is the clear #1, but how good are they compared to #1 teams of the past? Regardless of that, there's a pretty big fall off after the Buckeyes. As long as Troy Smith doesn't turn the ball over, I think OSU will slaughter Michigan.

So 2006 has the last couple games of the World Series and the remainder of the college football season to make amends. I don't see it happening, hopefully '07 will bring better.
