Re: Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhst

First, Pam Anderson was in on the scene. She wouldn't comment on it when asked about it some time ago and there were no media stories about it when it happened. The guards probably were not in on it.

Sorry the video or page cannot be found. The page may have been removed, had its name changed, or is just temporarily unavailable. Please use search or visit our home page. Thank you.

"I think it's a huge compliment," Anderson said of Borat's obsession with her. "It was great." Asked how she got involved with the film, the former "Baywatch" star turned away for a moment to think, then replied, "I can't really say. I'm sworn to secrecy."
As to suing Cohen, they could have a case, but it wouldn't be easy.

It always began the same way: with a phone call out of the blue from a producer representing a phony company called One America Productions. The producers claimed to be working with "a Belarus TV station"—too many people had gotten wise to the Kazakhstan bit, presumably—on a documentary about America. They used fake names (try Googling "Lawrence Wenngrodd"), gave out inactive cell-phone numbers and e-mail addresses and paid interview subjects between $150 and $400 an hour.

The next step was the release form. The producers usually pulled it out just before the cameras rolled, at a moment of maximum bustle.

Most of the folks contacted by NEWSWEEK admit they barely read the release. Even if they did, they might not have grasped the legalese about waiving claims for "breach[es] of alleged moral behavior" and "fraud (such as any alleged deception or surprise about the Film)"—which is a nifty way of getting people to agree that it's OK to defraud them.
Basically they signed a release form saying it's ok to defraud me. Would that hold up in court? Maybe, maybe not.

It's kind of sad though that with the success of this movie, the Borat character becomes less and less viable. At least in this country and most of europe, unless he changes the formula to something more traditional.

      Re: Borat

Never have I been more impressed with a movie that had so much hype. I read reviews, I saw interviews, I talked to friends, OSers, and everyone said,

"this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen."

Usually when I hear that, the movie is a letdown, but Borat didn't miss. I was laughing the entire time. Funny, funny stuff.

Movie is very racist, but very very funny.

I heard those three frat guys got kicked out of their frat and two from the university.

I'm sure more than enough was cut out. When the Unrated DVD comes out, you'll probably get what you expected.

Re: Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhst

Is Borat: Cultural Leanings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan the funniest movie in film history? No, but it is very nice.

Cohen gets away with a lot of the jokes in the film because he’s Jewish. I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many Jew jokes were in the film. I have to admit I cracked up when he went to a gun shop and asked the staff member what gun would be the best to protect himself from the Jews. The staff member had 2 recommendations.

Because I watched a lot of Borat’s appearances while promoting the film and read a few reviews, the majority of the jokes and the scenes didn’t surprise me.

By far the most disturbing scene of the film is when Borat and Azamat wrestle around in the hotel. Both were naked and at one point Azamat was teabagging Borat. Hopefully they did that scene in one take.

Critics will point out the film is racist, homophobic, and sexist. This can be debated. You can’t deny the fact this film is extremely funny. Too bad I didn’t watch through the credits because there’s suppose to be something really funny at the end.

            Final Grade: B+

I didn't get one. I know that there was a quick shot of something (don't know if it was Borat or not), but it was for about half of a second. Then the lights turned on. Definitely no scene.

How's this for the beginning of a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court? -- "Sacha Baron Cohen is a prankster."

Funny part, is I caught TMF's Making the Movie: Borat...and they showed some of the deleted scenes from the movie plus my segment about him insulting Azamat, calling him fat. Very Funny. Tuuche. lol
