Sanjaya will never get the benifit of the doubt from those who are against him. I thought his performance last night was good. Sure his wacky hair got a lot of attention but if you get past that, his rhythm in the chorus was good. I just wish hed speak up. I bet this will sound really good once americanidol's website releases the mp3 cd quality version in a few days much like his version of "aint no mountain high enough"

Tonight its starting to really look like 1 of 2 people are going home. Chris Sligh or Haley Scarnato. I personally like Haley (beyond how gorgeous she is) and hope she stays.

Relatively speaking, last night wasn't San's worst performance............ I actually heard a few flashes of a beautiful voice behind his subpar performance......... but with me, it's going to take more than flashes at this stage, he needs to sound "beautiful" the whole time. I don't know what it is, how he can sound so good one second and pitchy the next. Maybe he just has problems with certain notes or something.

Last week's performance proved how he can get a little "loose" on stage, it's just so frustrating he doesn't use that philosophy in his vocal performance. I thought it was just his confidence, but his last two appearances probably negate that theory.........

You may be right about the digital performance thing...... but the thought of him going on tour a la Taylor Hicks scares me BIG TIME. Taylor Hicks wasn't the most talented on AI5, but he had charisma, and San doesn't have that much.

Personally I don't think Sanjaya was the worst last night vocally, I'd give that distinction to Chris Richardson.

Even so, Chris R. had a top 3 performance last week and Chris S. was average at best. Richardson probably had an off night by his standards, but he's one of the better male vocalists overall this season.

With that said, he can't have two off nights in a row and expect to stay.

I think this season has been the poorest to date. When you get to the top 10 there should be some incredible talent in there. I only see star potential out of about 4 of them.

It's better than last season to me........ vocally, at least two, probably three of this year's contestants would outclass anyone last season save for Elliott.......

its hard to judge these things because its opinon and style taste related. For opinion, id rather listen to chris sligh all day over lakisha and melinda since I hate hearing the same boring crap, with the same style, same songs and same expressions. It feels like Melinda could go up there and sing out of her *** and would still get praised as the greatest, and still have that "you just won a million dollars" look on her face.

I agree it's matter of opinion. I enjoy Chris Sligh and his song choices, but I can tell when he isn't singing well and when he's ahead of the music - both hurting his overall performance. He was actually my favorite singer in the competition at first, but lately I think he's delivered some poor performances compared to the others. It's also why I like Blake. He seems to enjoy the same type of music as I do. It also helps that he can sing quite well and has the added "beatbox" dimension to his performance.

I haven't liked the songs that Melinda or Lakisha have sung, but I do recognize that they were sung very, very well. Melinda is going to make it big regardless of whether she wins or loses on AI. Her voice reminds me of some of the great "diva" singers of the past (ie: Whitney Houston).

It's a shame that Chris Sligh didn't perform well last night, because I would have been very interested in how the judges responded to him after last week's "Hi Dave" episode that completely offended all the judges. I think that even if he had come back and performed very well last night, they still would have found a way to pound him for that.

The head guy at the votefortheworst message boards. He called Chris Sligh out to see if he was reading the boards and promised to stop bashing him if h said "Hi dave" on tv, which he ended up doing last week. The judges knew immediatly what happen because Seacrest asked if something was wrong and simon said "well talk about it later"

i dont think so because right after the 16 second mark they show simon and hes got a little smirk, but 50 second mark after Sligh says hi dave, simon and the other judges play it off.

Regarding Sanjaya I don't particularly hate the guy. It's just that he has one of those voices that really limits the kind of songs he can do without sounding out of his element. He just has no business doing pop tunes IMO.

As for Gwen Stefani, yes she's HOT when she's not overdoing things. I almost didn't recognize her but damn she looks so gorgeous when she's prettied up.

Yeah, I think it was the mention of "Dave" that got the judges attention that night.

As far as those who can't stand that Sanjaya has some sort of perverse support...deal with it. For me, it's made the show interesting this season as I've got a reason to watch (at least for now). Nobody is any good aside from Melinda Doolittle and she looks like Shrek without a neck. The fact that I'm a Stern fan and he's behind the cause makes both shows (Stern and AI) that much more entertaining for me. The problem I have with people who stereotype Stern fans or Stern himself, is that they most likely have only seen the E! show (which is admittedly the garbage stripper stuff from his radio show) and have never listened. Outside of the lame porno star bits, Stern's show is gold.

Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are the epitome of this competition and Jennifer Hudson shows what the show can do for you even if you don't win. Fantasia is on broadway, but in all honesty, I never got that. She was horrendous.

And for the record, Taylor Hicks? He was testicle juice times ten. Sanjaya is better than he ever was. What the hell was his deal? Soul Patrol? Weird spasms and that stupid grin?

As someone said, other people are entertained by ruining something for someone else. I guess I get it, in that prepubescent, 'I want attention but I will focus that desire into something negative', or 'if so and so says it's cool, I will do it' kind of way. Not my thing personally, but if I focus really hard and try to think like a 12 year old, I definitely get it.

That's no knock of course to the people who genuinely like Sanjaya an vote for him thusly. I can't really knock another person's likes and dislikes. I'm not a fan, but I certainly wouldn't tell you to not be.

That reminds me. I have an online friend in TX and she recently was at the biggest rodeo the state has. Anyways they usually have big name (from the past and some from the present) musical stars that do a concert. Guess who was the headline attraction this year?

Yep, Taylor Hicks, She told me he wasn't even that good and he didn't even do his weird spasms or silly grins either. I guess that was just a schtick to make him stand out on Idol. I hate it when people do silly things to make them seem unique and then afterwards they're not like that.

If you really want an honest answer, I'm in neither group. I vote for him because if he's not voted off that means we get to see his sister's cans for one more week
