No problem, I figured just listing out that studio since some people might be interested in knowing that their animation studio is also HD-DVD excl. I can't wait till the Shrek trilogy comes to HD-DVD.

Watching Dawn and it looks and sounds good...I'm no HD movie buff, so don't ask me specifics, it just looks great to me

Over at highdefdigest, they gave it a good review.

Now October 2, the BluRay version of the original Dawn of the Dead will release..................for me that is going to be the true test how well the 1978 original turns out in Highdef. I own the Ultimate Edition that released a few years ago which is a 4 disc set.....will never get rid of that.

These studios have done some amazing things taking these older movies to HD-DVD.

I just bought a DAV-HDX500 (Sony home theater sys).. with the optical input for my PS3 optical output... but it doesn't work... I've only attempted to hear APF in surround sound... I'm wondering if the game plays in 5.1 surround... ?!?! I haven't tried my Blu-ray movies however....

It might not....maybe try a movie through the PS3, that should play in Dolby Digital. I know from my reciever that it shows Dolby Digital for my HD TV channel inputs, and it uses Pro Sound II or whatever that is for regular tv. On one DVD I could choose between DTS and Dolby Digital and I saw the difference displayed on my reciever lcd. I have my 360 using the optical out to my reciever, so same situation.

I remember a 360 game that wasn't really surround, i forget the game but i think it exists.

Yeah, I like the way the receiver displays what sound is being displayed. I really noticed the improvement in the optical sound vs. standard composite red/white cables and am looking forward to hearing the PS3 at the same level.

Did you change your audio settings when you went to optical on the PS3? You have to set the audio to bitstream when going optical I believe but I'm sure someone can correct me on that.

So in the end, you'll basically need both in order to see the movies you want to see in Hi-Def. If I pop in a regular DVD into an HD DVD player will up upconvert it?

In your opinion, what will have the better movies released overall?

Fox Reveals Full Specs for '28 Weeks Later' Blu-ray

Fox Home Entertainment has released full specs for their planned October Blu-ray release of '28 Weeks Later,' and it promises to be a fully-loaded special edition.

Although the studio had issued an early retail announcement for '28 Weeks Later' (which we first reported on last week), details on special features at that time were unknown. Now Fox has unveiled full specs for the horror sequel, and in stark contrast to many of its earlier bare bones Blu-ray releases, '28 Weeks Later' is set to receive the full BD-50 treatment.

Among the disc's host of extras are an audio commentary with the film's director and writer, the full-length documentary "Code Red: The Making of 28 Weeks Later," an additional three making-of featurettes, two deleted scenes, and the theatrical and teaser trailers.

As previously announced, the disc will also include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 surround track.

Fox has set a $39.98 list price.

Many HD players including the PS3 will upconvert movies but only through an HDMI cable.

that's the prob I was having... I didn't no what function to set my receiver on in order to match the PS3... also I wasn't sure if my PS3 was set to output the optical... then there is the question of which game really play in surround sound...?!?!?

I know NFL2k5 had surroundsound mode in the game.... Here I am reading through all my 1/4" thick manuals (PS3, HDTV, Home theather sys)... you'd think in 2007 (spending all this money) things would be much easier...?!??!?

Check out post #3 for some good info (I think): http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=14353.

There are other PS3 forums that I can't access at work when you search on PS3 optical output. I ordered a switch for the optical output that I hope will get here next week and will be going through the same process myself (already did it for my upconverting DVD player). Right now I'm only running basic audio cables from my PS3.
