I got it off buy.com It's $19.99 without google checkout and $11.88 with it. One of my favorite movies and the PQ is right up there with the best HD-DVDs released.

The extras are good as well. 2 thumbs up at either price.

Near flawless transfer. Worth it if you love the movie.

            Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread

From some dude on AVS about Godfather and Indiana Jones Trilogies on HD-DVD:

"In a recent interview with Norwegian trade magazine release.no, Jon Einar Sivertsen, CEO of Paramount Home Entertainment Norway, stated that they will release the Godfather movies and the Indiana Jones movies on HD DVD in 2008.

Obviously, 2008 also lasts a full year, so it could mean December 2008, but I think it's encouraging to see that they have decided that they will release these movies next year.

I have no idea if they're planning a world wide relase, or if it's local, but since Paramount Norway is basically just a sales office, I seriously doubt that it's intended for the Norwegian market alone. Anything less than a European release would surprise me (still, that's just speculation on my part).

Here's a link to the story, but unfortunately it's only available in Norwegian:

            The relevant bit is this:

            Quote:
            – Godbiter fra arkivene?
            – Ja, både Gudfaren-filmene og Indiana Jones-filmene kommer på HD DVD neste år, sier Paramounts norske sjef.

            Translation:

            - Any highlights from the archives?
            - Yes, both the Godfather movies and the Indiana Jones movies will be released on HD DVD next year.

This is all it says, and there's absolutely no word on whether Indy will be HD DVD exclusive or not."

I think I'm going to jump on this Amazon offer- $199 for the A3, 3 movies from a set of movies from Amazon (I'll get Big Lebowski, Blades of Glory, and Knocked Up), Bourne and 300 in box, and the five HD-DVD mail in rebate.

Yeah, plus at Sears you are not getting all those extra movies except for the standard 5 free.

I guess from what I was reading today, the A3 is still on backorder at many places. Ever since the Walmart sale, these things have been flying off of shelves. There is a rumor going around now for the last 2 weeks that has surfaced again today; it's that the Toshiba/HD-DVD camp have 1 more weapon that their going to unleash soon. I am very intrigued if this is true, but it is something that their going to announce before the holidays.

The Onkyo HD-DVD players are coming out soon also, so its not only Toshiba releasing these anymore.

i have a question for you guys and I don't have time to look through this entire thread. I have PS3 and no blu ray movies. Do any blu ray movies also come with the movie in standard DVD form as well? The reason i ask is a lot of movies I would like to get my kids will watch as well. If they can only watch on my ps3 this is a problem, but if it comes with the standard DVD as well they could watch on a regular DVD as well. any help would be appreciated.

HD DVD/DVD combos are exclusive to that format.

I as well jumped on the Amazon deal. Got the player, 300 and Bourne Identity that come with it, then my first 3 free were Hot Fuzz, The Departed, and Shooter.

I can't wait to watch 300 in HD
