Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Just got in on the Amazon HDDVD BOGO. Picked up Superman II, Casino, Enter the Dragon and the Hurricane for $40 shipped. Not too bad.
Will have relatives pick up the tab on the Best Buy BOGO.Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Oh wow, I just installed everything that I got
The Onkyo SR605 is a fantastic receiver. It's miles ahead of the 2002 Sony something or other that I had. The surround sound is excellent and the Audessey set up really made a difference. It's nice running everything through the HDMI cable now too.
The A3 is also great. I watched a bit of 300 and just hearing the lightning strikes in the opening credits was a great experience. I've never had an upconverter before so I popped in Super Troopers and I certainly didn't get quality like that on my TV before.
It took me about 4 hours to get everything good to go, but I think I'm ready. Tomorrow, I'll mail in the 5 free movies rebate and hopefully get that by June lol

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
It's fantastic. I just purchased the PS3 Blu-Ray remote and I'm very excited about it. It's very intuitive. Also, last night I watched the Bourne Ultimatum. It was only on DVD, but the Blu-Ray player upconverts it very nicely. The PQ looked very nice. Can't wait to check out some Blu-Ray movies soon.PSN: sportdan30

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Well I've found my first must have HD DVD for 2008
Universal has sent along some early specs for 'American Gangster' to prime the publicity pump.
The disc will street sometime in March, with 1080p/VC-1 video and Dolby TrueHD audio.
Extras include audio commentary with director Ridley Scott, the "Fallen Empire" documentary, a featurette, deleted scenes, U-Control PIP track, and web-enabled content to be announced.
The HD DVD is a combo, and retail is $39.98.PS4: aBayBates

Yessir. ^^^
I really hope WB goes blu, so it will put the screws to Universal to at least go neutral. American Gangster, Casino, the Bourne movies, and Hendrix and Slayer concerts are a big reason why I want them to do so.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Rather wait it out. Trust me, if HD DVD is the surviving format, I'll start supporting that, but until then, I'll keep what I have.
With CES around the corner, and both formats gaining real traction, the picture looks like it'll be a lot clearer in 2008 sooner than later.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Too bad all the studios didn't just go neutral, have both formats, and be done with it. Yes, it splits the crowd on hardware...........but then nobody loses out on software.Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
BTW, I picked up the first 3 Harry Potter movies on HD-DVD the other day at Walmart for $18.96 each.......the cheapest around. Now having only seen bits and pieces of these movies, they are very good. We have only watched the first 2 so far, but my kids totally are quiet for the 2.5 hours which rarely happens even if were watching some of their favorite Disney movies, etc. The PQ and SQ is excellent, their in TrueHD. I guess I'll have to go pickup the last 2 before the week is over with, good stuff.Comment
