Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
So, I am planning on returning my new HD-DVD player to Wal-Mart tomorrow. I am thinking of putting the money from the HD-DVD player and the handful of HD-DVDs I got from Best Buy and Circuit City towards a blu-ray player. How is this one?Comment

I don't want a PS3 though. I am more than satisfied with my Wii360 combo and with my COB 300 course this semester, adding another gaming console doesn't seem to be a wise decision.

No offense but what difference does it make if you add a SA BR player or the PS3? Price point seems to favor the PS3, and from all accounts its the best BR player for that price and some say its the best no matter the price. I would go with a PS3, dont use it to game if you dont want to but its an awesome BR player for a good price.Comment

I seriously think the PS3 would be the better investment if you're switching to blu.Comment

Yeah, I dunno...I just hear the "Version 1.0" crap with Blu-Ray, and I honestly have to think that Sony will upgrade their PS3 baby with the best all the time...Why not give yourself the option to play great PS3 exclusives as well? I dunno, as a gamer I just took the PS3 games as a bonus...i could see how non gamers might want to spend 500-700 for some spiffy SL.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
I don't know, now that I think about it, I shouldn't really be spending that much money now at the beginning of the school semester - especially when I can get a **** ton of HD-DVDs for cheap on eBay and half.com. I might just keep it for awhile even if I just use it as my upconverter (I have an A2, BTW). I did get 300 today in the mail from Best Buy and I've been itching to watch it...

Yes, but in that price range isn't the PS3 the better player? I even know that the PS3 is still a better player, but just because I don't want to keep on using my PS3 as a movie player I don't see how that could be a problem to anyone. I just have this fear of it crapping out from too much movie use.
Don't you see a problem there?Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
We've discussed so many times why I prefer the SAL players of any DVD player.....but my comments are like a total surprise and because I'm telling someone at the $400 price point they are better off getting the PS3, its like I'm contradicting myself with the question your asking.Comment
