    Re: Grindhouse (Tarantino & Rodriguez)

Guess I should've caught it this weekend, instead of planning for the next, as Grindhouse looks to do OW numbers below expectations.

On a side note, the screenplays for both have leaked.

IMO, Planet Terror was the better of the two, and I hate zombie movies. A ton of action, and a ton of gore. Like, extreme gore. And then there's the funny parts, like the random kung-fu scenes and Freddy Rodriguez riding a pocketbike while killing off zombies, and its a damn good movie.

Death Proof was a bit slower, which should be expected out of Tarantino since there's more dialogue. Kurt Russell does a damn good job as the villian, including those cheesy 1970's "look at the camera and laugh" scenes. And his car is pretty damn badass.

But without a doubt, the best part of the movie were the trailers for the fake movies. There's one called "Hobo with a Shotgun" that's only shown in the Canadian theaters, and its probably the funniest one. Here's the link (note: there's a ton of swearing in it): http://www.devilducky.com/media/58566/

There's four more I believe, and all four of them are awesome. The best one is called "Machete" with Danny Trejo. Apparently that's actually coming out as a movie. The other ones are all funny.

Overall, I give Planet Terror an A, Death Proof a B+ and the trailers an A+++, which I believe averages out to about an A+. If it wasn't 3 hours long and I had money to blow on $10 movie tickets, I'd see it again.

Hahaha, those movie trailers had the whole theater I went to laughing out loud.

As a whole, Grindhouse is a totally fun experience. Some wild and crazy stuff. There were even a few intentional "Missing Reel" parts included in both movies, like there used to be while watching movie in an very old, rundown theater a long time ago. And it's all friggin' hilarious.

Awesome film(s)! I would definitely go again. One of the few movies I have attended that had everyone clapping at the end.

It just seemed too slow to me, spent too much time setting up everything only to have it all end so quickly, that was my only problem, other then that it was entertaining.

This was a badass flick. Best movie I have seen all year. If you are waiting to see it on DVD, don't it is meant to be seen in a movie theater. Awesome flick!

                    Can't wait to see Machete.

I've heard some news that they might seperate the movies when it comes to DVD. If that happens, that will suck. It's not Tarantino and Rofriguez's idea, but the studio's, to try and make up for the less than 300-esque opening.

Another rumor has the movies being combined into one.

That is, the events supposedly take place at the same time, so the two movies will play as one 3 hour movie switching back and forth from scene to scene.

If done right, could be intriguing.

This movie only appeals to certain people. I don't see how they are shocked by the results, when it's a concept movie. Splitting it up will only confuse more people, and would really only work for the fans one way. They need to release a theatrical version, and possibly uncut versions of both later on.

I know companies are all about making money, but hell, we haven't even got a proper release of kill bill on DVD yet. It's like they want this stuff to age like wine or something.
