Though it started off a little slow, thanks to Tarantino's heavy dialogue, the action scenes, especially the climax more than make up for the slowness at the beginning.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know whats on the 3rd disc thats included in the tin when buying it at Best Buy? I cant find anything anywhere that states what is extra in it, other then its 3 disc instead of 2, if anyone knows that would be great.

It's a 30 minute "making of" disc. I think that Best Buy is the only store with the steel case.

Plus you get a $5.00 coupon towards Planet Terror when that releases.

Death Proof's ending makes me squirm. I don't know why. I think it's either the sound effects or editing. The thing is, I don't know whether to take sides with the girls or with Stuntman Mike by that point. I literally switched sides ten times before the movie ended.

I think this is why I had a hard time accepting this movie. I enjoyed it at the theater for what it was but afterwards I had mixed feelings.

It seemed as if there was never a clear protagonist and antagonist. We can safely assume that the girls are the protagonists and the guy is the antagonist but the story is setup in a unique way.

The guy is introduced well-before the main girls and is introduced in such a way that you end up viewing the story from his perspective (the most obvious direction for a protagonist).

The girls, of course, face the biggest dilemma - death - but the guy also has his own conflict because Quetin basically sucks you in to the demonic nature of the girls. You almost start feeling bad for the guy because you know he's the one under attack at the end.

It isn't as easy as hero goes after bad guy and stops him. So the movie is somewhat confusing in that sense because you never really get a clear grasp on the story but because of this unique approach it's interesting and enjoyable.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I found Death Proof to be fairly enjoyable and I see where you guys are coming from. By the end of the movie, I can see where people could take Stuntman Mike's side, but the whole time towards the end I was rooting for the 3 ladies to take him out, and they did that. I think I felt bad for the Challenger and the beating that it took, but was also feeling bad at the end for the friend that they left behind with the one dude so they could take the Challenger for a ride. I kept on thinking that they would return with the damaged Challenger, only for that dude to go nuts.

Pulp Fiction was the same in that respect as well. I'm sure people were rooting for Bruce Willis while others were rooting for John Travolta when the pop-tart death scene came about.

I'm with Candy on Death Proof though. I never felt sorry for Mike and I was rejoicing with the girls as they beat the **** out of him at the end.

Stuntman Mike had it coming............but I really liked how he was used in the film. Tarrantino has his classic dialogue/conversations, but we also have Stuntman listening in on some of these conversations......building some suspense. I did feel at times like he was taking a small suspense angle when he would stop in the middle of the street several feet in front of his victims, while they stared at his vehicle.............boom, he speeds off. That almost gave it that Michael Myers feel from the original Halloween, with him standing there while his victim watches only for him to disappear.

Good movie and I can't wait for Planet Terror.

Death Proof was cool. Could do without the exhaustive dialogue though.

We just saw Planet Terror tonight and it wasn't that bad of a movie. It's a mix between serious and comedic horror, as it did lend itself more towards the serious side with elements of comedy thrown in there. I can see where people had a hard time going to the theater to see both as the both log in at a little bit over 3.5 hours together.

If your a horror fan and love zombies, here is another zombie movie to add to that list.

I watched Death Proof last week and didn't really care for it as a whole. Every scene with Kurt Russell is great because his character is so interesting. Every scene without him was completely boring to me. Listening to those chicks talk for 10-15 minutes at a time had me close to turning the movie off. I couldn't stand their rambling but maybe I just don't get it. Kurt Russell was great. The rest of the filler, not so much.

Stupid question and its more of a pipe dream then anything but did Planet Terror have any of the fake trailers on it? I know they werent on the Death Proof release but was really hoping that they would be on this one, the more likely scenerio is they release them in a package in a few months with the fake trailers on it to drive more revenue Im sure.
