Have you listened to Myles however? Stapp is a fairly good singer, but Myles destroys him in my opinion. For one, he has MUCH more range, as he can really tone it up on heavier songs, and on songs such as "Broken Wings" or "In Loving Memory", he can really hit the softer notes as well.
I don't mean you and I am saying anyone. Yeah that guy has a great voice. My alltime favorite for rock was Bon Scott. I just love that guys voice and stage present.

For current singers I'm gonna go with Maynard James Keenan of Tool. He can sing in so many different ways.

All time I have to go with Ozzy. His voice really isn't all that great because he doesn't have much range, but it's just so unique that he really stands out.

Ben Burnley - Breaking Benjamin. Just love the voice, great range, and sounds even better live. Also helps that he's one of the best writers today.

Pete Loeffler - Chevelle. I don't know what it is, just think his voice is awesome. Can go from whispering to screaming and it just sounds natural.
Big fan of both as well Wazzup, especially Burnley. From what i've watched of BB live on Youtube, his voice certainly is better live IMO. Not many singers can pull that off, but all of his live videos sound great.

Pete is great as well, but from what i've seen from him live, he struggles at times to hit his notes. However, on tracks, he has a fantastic voice.

I also wanted to throw out another vocalist, Eric Victorino of Strata. Pretty unknown band, but one of my favorites. He has a very "emotional" voice you could call it. It's just that whenever he sings, he puts so much passion and emotion into it that it's almost effortless. He may not have the best voice, but for pure emotion, he's pretty damn good. Plus, he has an excellent book of short stories and poetry which is amazing as well.

            Here we ago...

Chris Cornell - I think it should be obvious by now. Even though his current range and power is only a drop in the bucket of what he was able to do 17 years ago, he's still got a good rock voice - but still, nothing beats his vocal work on Badmotorfinger or Temple of the Dog.

Corin Tucker - As far as female rock vocalists go, she is definitely my favorite as she just belts it out. I love her vocals on The Woods - so much power.

Mark Lanegan - I'm only familiar with his work with Queens of the Stone Age, but the dude has one hell of a unique voice - sounds like he eats gravel for breakfast. I love the effect his vocals make on QotSA songs.

John Fogerty - Probably my favorite classic rock vocalist. You hear his voice and it instantly registers who you're listening too - plus he had that whole bayou thing going on.

I've seen BB live 3 times and I can honestly tell you, Burnley's voice is better live and thats saying a lot. Haven't seen Chevelle in concert yet, hopefully that will change this summer. I've listen to Strata a few times, but not enough to really grade Victorino's voice. I'll have to give them a listen again.

Well hell if you are going to throw John's name in there, then I have to go with Ronnie Van Zantz! Love his voice too as much as Bon Scott. But still Bruce for Maiden is the ultimate voice!!! If it wasn't for Bruce you wouldn't even know George T or Chis Cornell. Bands at least heavy Metal bands didn't want guys with opera voices in their band, Bruce changed that!

Here is a name I can't believe I forgot off my list..

                  Brad Delp - Boston

Guy had the purest rock voice in the world, not to mention he was the nicest guy alive, may he rest in peace.

Strata's first CD is great, yet hard to find. However, they have a new CD coming out in May titled "The End Of The World". The first single "Cocaine" is out, and while it is a different style then the first CD in a way, it's a fantastic song that will be stuck in your head for a long time.

Just a few and obscure honorable mentions for me...Don't know his name, but that guy that sings"balls to the wall" by Accept..... Tony Martin sang for Black Sabbath for awhile after Ozzie cut out. He did have an amazing voice range, they just couldn't really produce hits without Oz. "Headless Cross" by Sabbath is a album worth looking into, you get the full scope of Martin's voice range there. One more honorable-James Dewar of Robin Trower(r.i.p.) He had a good bluesy,Kinda Jack Bruce type voice.

They have a song there featuring one of the multiple-nominated singers, Brent Smith, dueting with the best female vocie in current rock... Ms. Lzzy Hale.

Shinedown f/ Lzzy Hale - Shed Some Light
