And you are more than welcome to do so. And don't assume that I don't know any of her music, nor any of the artists you mentioned. I have heard her stuff, it is laughably bad. She is not a musician. She is merely a product of the industry which made her. That is why I am giving you, and anyone who listens to her stuff, **** for doing so. You are merely feeding a machine which needs to die. There are too many good artists out there that get no play while people like you and your band of teenagers continue to pump money into crap like Avril, Fergie, etc.

I notice you had no response to the fact that Avril's persona, just like her music, is a complete farce.

Jesus Christ man, grow some balls and listen to real music. Pick up a Beatles album, the Stones, something. Just redeem yourself somehow.

I cannot believe you name-dropped Dream. Nice.
While I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying, there's no reason to come into this thread and start bashing people for listening to what they listen to. I haven't heard the new Avril Lavigne album, and I won't, but it isn't completely impossible to believe that she made a quality album. I'm one of the biggest Beatles' fans you're going to find, but before they made Rubber Soul, they were basically the Backstreet Boys with the ability to write songs and play instruments.

I'm just saying take a listen to the Avril album before saying it sucks.

Good point on the Beatles. But, the ability to write songs and play instruments is what separates their early stuff from the likes of the Backstreet Boys.

And you are right, I probably shouldn't bash others musical interests. It is just that I can't believe that people enjoy that ****. Plus I am bored.

I gotta mow my lawn now.

Does that make you feel better? Trying to discredit someone and their musical tastes just because it just doesn't compare to yours? And, I believe "pumping money" into Avril or any other artist would actually have to have me at least purchase the music in the first place (which artists see little profit from) or attend a concert. Being that I wouldn't either, there goes that point. But, again. Nice try.

I notice you had no response to the fact that Avril's persona, just like her music, is a complete farce.
Wait. You mean to tell me that the two females in t.A.T.u. AREN'T lesbians and it was just a ploy to sell records? Well, I never!

Jesus Christ man, grow some balls and listen to real music.
"Real music"? And, who are YOU to be the judge and jury to decide what REAL music is in the first place? Just because I listed a few of the artists that I HAPPEN to listen to it doesn't mean that's all I listen to, but whatever. Think what you will. I mean, sure, it's cool to sit high and mighty on your throne of musical knowledge and strike down anyone who doesn't listen to the same things that you do. For every Avril Lavigne album I have on my iPod, there's a Sarah McLachlan one to match. For every Dream album I have on my iPod, there's either a Fiona Apple, Ani DiFranco, Aimee Mann, Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige or whomever to match. Then again that might not be considered "real music" to you either but as long as I like it that's all that matters.

Please ask yourselves....do you really want a warning for fighting in the Avril Lavigne thread?

Either discuss the album or don't, but please knock this off. The concept of "real music" is different for everyone.

Probably to discuss Avril Lavigne's third album release. Just a thought, though.

And what do you have to say to those of us who gladly listen to the likes of Avril alongside the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, et al?

Re: Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing

Just finished giving it my first listen.

I liked it. A little too short for my liking, but there are certainly some good tracks to be heard.

Surprisingly, "Girlfriend" is the only truly unlistenable track on the CD, and even it has grown on me to the point where I can at least bear to hear it. The first couple times I heard it, I wanted to rip my ear drums out. Now, maybe only puncture it, instead.

The heart of the album, from "The Best Damn Thing" through "Innocence" is top notch, however. "When You're Gone" and "Hot" are two really good tracks. Of course, I gotta throw out props to Butch for penning the former. The hooks in it are just top-notch, right on par with his catchiest stuff.

Really only two or three tracks that just left me apathetic, which is always good. Didn't necessarily hate them, didn't have anything jump out at me, but at the same time didn't want to skip over them either.

Good disc. Doubt it will hang around long enough to slip into my top ten for the year, but definitely eleven to twenty potential.

I still greatly prefer Under My Skin, though. One of the best pop albums we've seen in a long, long time.
