Actually, it's possible to substitute french fries for a baked potato or some other item from their 99-cent menu.

Hehehe, I loved it when Wendy's first announced the substitution deal. Forget the fries! I much rather have that baked potato. That's what I always get whenever I order a combo meal from there.

I met Dave Thomas once. I was at a Wendy's in Pineville, NC, just outside of Charlotte. I was working at Best Buy at the time, and came over to Wendy's on my lunch break. I was sitting down eating my burger when an older gentleman approached me and asked if everything tasted okay. I looked up and it was Dave! I couldn't believe he was actually at a Wendy's, talking to customers, but that's exactly what he was doing. I told him it was as good as always, and asked him if he did this type of thing a lot. He said he loved getting out to the restaurants personally and meeting the employees and customers. I was so star struck, I got him to autograph my Wendy's French Fry box. Still have it, too.

Thats A great flippin story, Dave always looked he was one of the nicest guy's you could ever run into.
