Effective immediately, suspended for 30 days. I didn't hear it live, but heard the backlash. I almost expected them to get fired...again.

The initial bit that spurred the controversy was that they had a homeless guy on who said he wanted to rape Condaleeza Rice, Queen Elizabeth, and Laura Bush. They apologized for it but then kept discussing it. I believe that this is what got them suspended for 30 days.

I enjoy O&A alot, but I have mixed feelings on this. XM and Sirius both have advertised themselves as the Bastion of Free Speech. Do I think the bit was offensive, yep, yet I don't think they should be suspended for it since it was on XM and not Terrestrial radio. I just find it funny that in that audio clip, they call for Howard's help, yep the same Howard they've made fun of for years, and the same Howard whose daughter they claimed was the victim of a drug overdose a few years ago. I don't think the bbboys will get any help from Howard, because he views them largely in the same way he viewed Imus. Howard's show should be interesting in the morning. Much like EG, I think they're as good as done on FreeFM and XM as they've come nowhere near to the ratings that Stern received and only slightly higher than the ratings that David Lee Roth received. I don't want to sound like I'm a Stern "Zombie" as the O&A fans refer to them as, because I do enjoy their show and listen almost daily to it. It's a crapshoot in the morning what I listen to on my way to work. If Stern's show sucks, I put on O&A and vice versa.

There's a post on wackbag that says they've been fired but it's unconfirmed as of yet. Truly sad IMO.

You can blame the whole Don Imus thing for this. Seriously tho, I think the era of the shock jock may be waning at least for the forseeable future. So those who practice that sort of entertainment better tread carefully.

You're not the only one, lots of folks are as well and that's why O&A got into trouble. I don't think XM suspended them for content. I think they suspended them because it's an issue that might affect the merger of XM and Sirius. I think once they come back you'll see a tamer O&A as well as a tamer Ron and Fez, Howard Stern, and Bubba the Love Sponge just to keep the heat off the merger.

There's no way I'd go back to boring terrestrial radio. It's worth the money not to have to listen to local radio anymore.

I will say, that while I don't like any of these personalities, I do not agree with censorship on pay radio. If people wish to pay good money to listen to these types of shows, then they should be able to do so without worrying about censorship.

I won't be canceling my subscription, as I like O&A, but not that much. I got XM for the music and sports, if they lose baseball, then bye bye, but until then, I will continue to love my XM.

I'm a HUGE stern fan (also post at SFN under a different name) and think that these guys are getting the shaft. They also don't get it at all. They are suspended because of what they said AFTER the incident involving the homeless guy and his desire to rape Condoleeza. They got on the radio and flippantly dismissed the higher ups and that was that. With their ratings the way they are, they can't afford to act like kings of any mountain.

I like them, but I'd REALLY be pissed if it were Ron and Fezz. Stern is untouchable and smart enough to know when to back down.

My XM subscription will be canceled ASAP if O&A get the shaft. Other than O&A, the service is mediocre to say the least. Not worth $13 / month.

I thought that XM was supposed to be free from the PC Police brigade? Truly a depressing day, no matter how you feel about O&A. Don't we have freedom of choice in what we listen to?

I listen to a lot of both Sirius and XM. I have XM and the guy I carpool to work with has Sirius. Other than MLB I think Sirius has everything XM has but I think the musiuc slection is better on Sirius for a metal fan. I like both Howard and O&A and while I will miss little Jimmy Norton I will manage with Howard. Like I said ealier I had XM for commercial free uncensored radio and now they do not offer that
