agreed - they are in such desperate straights right now to keep any subscriber - GO FOR IT, but be prepared to be put on hold for a while (though if you hit "activate new radio", or "new subscriber" option on the tele you have a better chance of getting through quicker)

Each time I've called, I just kept tapping zero got right through everytime.

It's completely and utterly ridiculous to suggest that Howard Stern and Mel Karmazin were behind this at all. As evidenced by Stern's comments yesterday, he doesn't care one way or the other. This is purely a move by XM to try and help the merger along and not get any controversy for XM.

It's funny how hard they try to get you to keep the service. She offered me one month free: not interested cancel it, three months free: not interested cancel it, six months free: not interested cancel it. I told her I'd resign up once O&A come back (if they come back).

Any time a situation arises where people are able to take advantage of an offer than isn't directly related to their interests, I look foward to the stories involving those that got jilted.

In this case, a caller that has no interest in Opie and Anthony, but wants to jump on the three free months deal:

Caller: Hi there, I am calling on behalf of Opie and Anthony being suspended. I am very upset and would like to cancel.

Customer Support: That's understandable. Goodbye and thank you for your business.

Caller sits, confused and feeling distantly like he's been had. Cries.

wonder what the figures are now of subs cancelling, because also a few advertisers on 202 have pulled out of XM as well....
just sad if you ask me..

50,000+ cancellations is what's going on, plus advertisers leaving (and making public statements announcing their boycott). No way XM predicted the backlash to be THIS strong. If O&A are officially fired, there will be a second wave, I believe.

O&A weren't suspended cause of what they said, they were suspended cause they didn't take the apology seriously, XM made them make the apology. All this talk of them being fired is from the O&A fans going nuts, plus the fact that O&A can't talk about it, neither can Ron & Fez. I can't wait for the middle of June to hear the boys back on XM.

still, XM is learning a hard lesson on this one... why are they so eager to give people breaks in their subscriptions? Because a lot of people have been cancelling, & not just O & A fans either..

Like I said, I'm not the biggest O&A fan, but I cancelled in support of them. When the boys come back, I'll be back as well.

I agree about XM, I would cancel but I love Ron & Fez, plus I had XM before the boys were on, though I have called and complained to them about what they did to O&A.

quick update- as of yesterday afternoon, I decided to go ahead & cancel XM...
told that I could re-activate for a reduced rate..

I'll probably reactivate once they come back on as well. As much as I disagree with some of the pest's actions, this was one of the better ones IMO. I'm not gonna smash my radio or go pee on the XM building, but I did cancel for sure.
