    Satellite Radio

Satellite radio is probably the next "big" purchase I make. Just trying to get a little feedback, but what service do you have XM or Sirius and how much a month is it? Isn't there a way that I can take my face off the car radio and bring it inside with me like if I wanted to listen at the office and or at home. That would be the time I would listen most, in the office.

I love talk radio, I listen to that more then watch TV. So for instance, Glenn Beck comes out at 9 am but i miss it...can I still catch the show later on, or it's always live? Or like the NFL shows, can you catch them later in the day too or they only play once a day? If that makes sense.

Isn't there talk of an XM/Sirius merge? I wouldn't know which one to get...Just trying to see how much I would spend in the beginning.

    Thanks!

Being a big NFL fan like you are, the natural inclination would be Sirius, but with the merger still in limbo, we don't really know what is going to happen. If I were you, I would hold out and see what is going to happen with the merger.

Exactly what I was going to say.

I have XM myself and I more or less like it. Lately the playlists have been ultra repetitive, but there is usually something on that is tolerable.

i've had sirius for about five years now, and i still love it. the sportster 4 is the model you're looking for. it has a big display, and you can take it from your car to your home (or job as in my case). but like the other guys said, you might want to wait.

oh, sirius is more expensive than xm, but there are no commercials on the music stations. that initself makes it more worthwhile to me.

There aren't commercials on the XM music stations either. Unless you mean KISS and MIX FM...those are basically the local radio stations in your area, since every city has a MIX and a KISS.

To be fair XM only has like 3 stations with commercials and none of those stations are really anything unique. Channels 21 and 22 have commercials (one other like 23-24 but it is like Amy Grant-esque easy listening), but they have identical content to 26 and 30 which are commercial free.

What about the online option? I wouldn't need the face that I could take to work or home if I used the online option, correct? Seems like it would save me money too

As far as waiting to see if the two merge, what's the latest one that? I thought it was a done deal a while back.

                    Thanks again for the info.

I know at least with XM, you can get all the music channels from the computer for free with no unit needed. But it does exclude the sports channels so you can't listen to baseball live from your cpu, it can only be heard in your car or on a receiver... not sure about the other channels though.

Sirius for me (atm)... my XM has been stashed away until time comes to turn it back on...

When both were on "equal footing", Sirius had (probably still has) a better music lineup.. only other difference between the two is sports packages (MLB/NHL on XM, NFL/NBA on Sirius)....

Let me say, when I get it...95% of the time it's going to be for talk radio (although I would get the NFL package, so I could listen to the Niner games since I don't have Directv anymore)

awwww - but Extreme, if gets XM, now is a good time.... 3, 6 extra months credit!!

what type of "talk" are you looking for, Dookie?

I enjoy the Sirius comedy channels, as well as some of the news stations... As for the "shock jock" talk, there is, sadly, only one on now -Sirius... plus Sirius has my fav show on - Car Talk!!
