iOS 15 came out today. Anyone try it?

One big thing I heard people talk about is how apple maps has been upgraded a lot. At least for some cities, it looks so cool on the maps. Seems like they're also trying to make roads more detailed so it not only tells you the road to drive on, but it might tell you how many traffic lights you are away from your turn, or if theres right or left turn lanes on the road so you'll know which lane to be in.

For anyone who has tried it, how much different is the interface in terms of the home screen, apps, settings? And if you've used things like CarPlay, is apple maps any different on that?

I downloaded it last night, but haven't done much with it yet. I'm still rocking my ancient iPhone 7 Plus; I refuse to upgrade until they bring Touch ID back. But my phone seems to handle iOS 15 OK.

I deleted the stacks or whatever they are on the iPad version of 15. I do like more apps fit on the Home Screen on it.

Only iPhones XS and newer will have all the benefits of IOS 15. So far I like it and it has more security features.

I haven't upgraded in awhile and my battery life sucks, so seeing that my iPhone 13 Pro Max shipped this morning, it made me pretty happy. I got the 512GB model, as I don't see myself going beyond that. I also ordered a Backbone to be able to play Xbox on. Yas.

I’ve been using my 11 Pro since 10/2019. I’ve been an annual upgrader for years so that has been a big change for me. I went so far as setting up my pre-order but never clicked the submit button. I’ll likely wait until I can just walk into an Apple Store and buy one to upgrade IF I upgrade.

My battery life is fine-ish, but the deals they're offering on these new iPhones are just too good to pass up and I paid my phone off awhile ago so I jumped in for the Pro this time around. Went with the 256GB model; I only used like 120 GB on my current phone and that was with a lot of useless crap so I feel like I should be fine.

Got the 13 Pro today. First time I noticed is how much better the screen is. Still Samsung AMOLED quality, but it's getting there.

Biggest takeaways so far is the battery life and the camera. Pics look stunning. I haven't delved into any of the pro features yet, but so far, it's the best camera I've ever used or seen on a phone. My dad has the S21 Ultra and the pics are right there with it.

Picked up my 128GB 13 Pro yesterday morning. It was a no-brainier considering Verizon gave me $1000 credit for my 11 Pro. So, I’m paying $0/month for 30 months. I’ve been with them for over 15 years so that’s a minor commitment lol

I typically just buy outright from Apple but…. Yeah

Been awhile since I bought a new iPhone at launch. But after three years with an SE, decided to upgrade to the 16. Going with the base model, but looking forward to hearing the UPS truck rumble down my street tomorrow.

Still using this phone and wasn’t going to upgrade. Still not planning to but knowing that the AI features aren’t coming to anything older than the 15 Pro means I’m considering at least getting one of those 2nd hand. Lol

iPhone Discussion Thread

Same. My 14 Pro Max is doing just fine, and I still have more than half of the 512Gb storage available. I am weary of having AI running in real-time on a device I use daily.

Perhaps I will trust it more over time, but for now, the 14’s “limitations” are just a pleasant barrier between my daily life and artificial intelligence.

Plus, I have little extras (a stealth audio recorder that activates with a slight touch from my pinky, a SleekStrip and a quick-attach/detach for the Flipper Zero that keeps it unseen on the back of my phone in my hand) that I have added to the exterior of my phone case, and I dread having to get a different case and move them over for a new phone.
