What I meant was don't expect 3rd party apps to be available on day one. This is just a SDK... meaning it has to get into developer hands first then they can have at it.

Big time 3rd party developers have had a beta SDK for a couple weeks now.

I think this should go in this thread, if not, delete the post. Has anyone tried any of the other companies iPhone competitors. I think Verizon or T-Mobile has the Voyager, just wondering how similar they are

So some rumors are the SDK will be released today, some say it's just going to be the beta and some say it's just going to be the road map to release day.

I hope it's released today with some applications ready to go, but I doubt it...

Yeah, I saw an article via Digg where Jobs was talking about the limitations of Flash. Basically it'd have to be optimized by Adobe or Apple for the iPhone's processor. As it is now, Flash is very memory and processor intensive, and there's no way to mesh that with the iPhone without tons of work (which I doubt either side wants to do).

Of course. Why should Apple put all that effort when they can just push their own codec, h.264?

This just stinks for viewing pages built in all-flash without an alternative. I usually check out Acura's website and it is all flash. Can't view it on the iPhone/iPod touch at all. The MLB.com page is a mess as well.

Im trying to hold out for the new models (3G, G3, whatever it is) and i know they havent been announced, but how am i supposed to hold out with all these new toys?

All of this coming in the iPhone 2.0 update. It'll have the SDK and enterprise capabilties. There's a beta release going out today. Thousands of developers will have it today. Applen eeds the feedback. Customers will see this in June as a free software.

Got to wait a while... =/

We've got to wait until June for 2.0, so looks like you'd be waiting regardless.
