If you think about it, if you bought the original AT&T at launch, you've spent a ton of money with AT&T already. This just insures you're with them for even longer and they still make a good amount of money off of you.

Yeah, you can upgrade at 199 if you bought in iphone before or are available for an upgrade.

I lost my Iphone in Nassau (stupidly didnt have insurance) about a week before they announced the 3G. So I needed a phone but they didnt have any iphones available. I had to use my upgrade on a cheap Nokia phone so that I would have a phone this month and I was worried that I would have to pay 399 to get the new iphone.

I called them on Tursday and they confirmed that I would only have to pay 199.

Well thats good to know I'll only have to pay $199 if I need to get a new one.

My current iPhone quit working, its under the 90 day warranty so I'm going to try and swap it out tomorrow morning before I head to work.

Only problem is it quit working after it was submerged in a pool (was at a pool party Saturday and my friend decided it'd be funny to shove me in not knowing I had my iPhone in my pocket), I got it out of the pool asap but its no longer working, but you can't really tell its water damaged just looking at it either so I'm hoping I can go in and just pass it off as having stopped working, but they don't cover water damage so we'll see if I'm able to pull it off, if not I'll just wait til the 11th and buy a new one for $199 even if the bill will go up I'm fine with that, just don't want to drop $399 for another iPhone.

I don't see how they can tell unless they open it up, which I doubt they do in store.

Just looking at it you can't tell its been in water or anything, if you opened it up I'm sure it'd be pretty obvious.

If it comes down to having to buy a new one he will be buying it, he already told me he would multiple times I can tell he felt bad after it happened so atleast I'm not getting stiffed with having to pay for it, that said I'll try and just swap it out but if I can't no loss for me.

Also I'm trying any possible way I can to dry it out, set it by a fan, now for the past 2 days I've had it sitting in a bowl of rice (supposably helps absorb moisture from it, I can tell its getting dried somewhat atleast because when it first happened any time I'd go to eject the simcard the slider piece would come out wet, now its coming out completely dry).

Yeah because usually with an ordinary phone you can just take the back off and they have a water sensitive strip somewhere that turns red when its come in contact with water. I really don't see them prying the back off the phone, at least not there on the spot.

I don't think it has nearly the hype that the 1st Gen iPhone had, which is understandable. I think that all the publicity following the prices of international plans have overshadowed the hype of the actual phone quite a bit.

I on the other hand can't wait until Friday comes...
