Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Edit* Or do you mean they can do that sign the contract then never activate it, thus never get billed?
Only reason I ask is say for example someone went in to buy one for someone as a birthday present, they'd never intend to use it but would give it to the person then when they activated it they'd be the one to get billed, sort of like if you bought a phone off of ebay or something I guess?Favorite Teams:

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Question about the new version iPhone.
I know on the first gen iPhone I just bought it and took it home to activate myself on my computer.
Well as some know from my earlier post my iPhone suffered a tragic death at the hands of a swimming pool, anyway I took it in planning to trade it out for a new one (claiming it quit working) well it all went successfully till I came to find out they were out of first generation iPhones so I couldn't trade it in I'd have to go to the apple store where I'm sure they'd know its water damaged.
Anyway I plan on just cutting my losses and getting a new iPhone but heres where my question comes in.
Being as I'm not eligible for the $199 iPhone (talked to a guy at the AT&T store here and thats what he told me) would it be possible to just give $199 to someone, have them walk in and buy it then give it to me and I just take it home to activate and just like that I have an iPhone for $199 or do they make you activate that in store to kill that?Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Well maybe the guy I talked to just didn't know what he was talking about, wouldn't be the first time I suppose a sales rep wasn't correctly informed.Favorite Teams:

Tip:
With the iPhone 2.0 software installed, hold down the Home button and press the Lock button and your screen will flash — and an image of your phone’s screen gets saved to your Camera Roll’s images. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Still better than full price but I'm really hoping for $199.
Also sounds like theres going to be a shortage, called two AT&T stores in this area and both told me they only got 20 in stock.Favorite Teams:

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Actually you were right.
**** ATT man.
I was told by a phone rep that I could upgrade for 199 because I previously bought an iphone that was stolen. After it was stolen I wanted to buy another but they decided to stop selling them in May. So I "upgraded" to the cheapest phone they have....a piece of **** Nokia that doesnt even have 3 way calling just so that I would have a phone for the next few months. The reps at the Att store were telling me that I would still be able to get the new iphone at the sale price.
So after your post I drove to the att store around the corner from me and that ****ing douchebag manager is like the only way you can get the 199 phone is if you have the iphone CURRENTLY on your account and blows me off when I tried to explain my story. Even though their press release and their ****ing instructional video on the site doesnt say that.
What sucks is I pretty much have to get a new phone because this crap Nokia one is horrible and i cant get any other phone at the upgrade price. I'm still going to buy the phone but I'm going to buy it from the Apple Store. I'm not giving ATT the direct sale.Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
I just called AT&T again got a different rep this time and he told me he heard anyone who purchased a first gen iPhone was eligible for the $199 price, until today when he was told anyone who bought a first gen iPhone would get a discount but not the $199, he told me it would be $299.

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Well I got it.
Couldnt sleep (insomnia is killing me) so I decided to do to see if people were lined up at my local ATT store. At 3am there were 21 people in line so I decided to wait. Its a good thing too because I was planning to show up around 5 and my store only had 30 iphones.
Got my phone around 8:30. Had trouble choosing between the white or black 16GB because the white looked much better than I thought in person. Chose the black and the Att rep took close to an hour trying to figure out how to add to my account. Finished played around w/ the phone and like it alot but its not too different than the iphone 1. 3G is faster but its not blazing fast but better than EDGE which was slow. I heard complaints that the new glossy back was slippery but that isnt the case for me. It actually is stickier than the metal back.Comment
