Tell me about it, 2 years ago while mowing my lawn. I was stung 25 times before I could escape them.

As for scorpions, when I moved in my house, we had a scorpion problem that summer. I actually had one sting me on the knee, talking about hurting for a minute. OUCH! Eventually, I had pest control come out, and spray with no luck really. The following winter came, and the following year I never saw them again. That's been 7-8 years, and I've never had anymore, luckily.

when i stayed in phoenix the house hold solution to get rid of scorpions is CATS for some reason they sting doesn't hurt or scare cats plus cats likes to eat them for some reason.

on a side note the natives also said the smallest the scorpion is the dangerous they are. I'm no scientist or even close to a bug or insect expert i'm just relaying what was told to me.

Yes, both are true. The baby scorpions (usually clear) are the most dangerous because they have the highest concentration of poison. What's strange is that scorpions aren't really agressive. They did a news story on one of the Arizona news channels where a guy had his hand in a box of scorpions and he basically had to put all of his body weight into pushing on one of them before it would sting.

Seconded. I thought this was going to be about some software called "scorpion" or something. Not the real animal things!

I don't wanna sound negative...but you may be screwed. I had a friend who built a house out here in Vegas on top of a scorpion nesting ground. There was absolutely nothing that stopped them. For every one he killed 2 more would pop up. They just kept coming up into the house from the ground below. They tried everything over a period of a few months.

Then one day their new baby got stung in his crib and had to be rushed to the ER. They moved the next week.

My sentiments exactly. We had scorpions stop by our house sometimes in GA. I know they are not very dangerous but damn if they arent the creepiest looking bugs in the world. Hate em.

I'd use Sub Zero and try to freeze Scorpion, just make sure to avoid the spear and the teleport attack. If you can get him down then rip his head off and hold it in the air, dangling spine and all.

                    Re: Scorpion problem

Damn, reading this thread made me realize how much of a bugaphobia (whatever the scientific term happens to be) I have.

I already know I'm terrified of flying bugs (I thank the killer bees movie plus seeing a bumblebee sting my older brother when I was little).

That movie about the giant ants terrified me as well. I have a small fear of ants but fire ants frighten me thanks to seeing my younger brother covered in them when he decided to sit on their bed which happened to be within the compost bed that surround our pear tree. He ended up in the emergency room.

Me? I've never been stung by any of insect but I run like a scared little girl anytime a bee comes near me.

I remember being terrified of dirt dobbers. Our dad had built this huge playhouse and woe be me, them damn dirt dobbers and wasps built nests inside. I was always asked to go kill them and each time I would be inside that playhouse shaking like crazy afraid to make a move.

I'm the same way about spiders, especially after the military decided to send around that damn slideshow about Brown Recluses.

Scorpions are cool but I've never seen a wild one. All I know is that if we had them here (hopefully we don't), I'd be checking my shoes everyday because I saw a video once where this guy got out of bed, stuck his feet in his house shoes and was promptly stung.

Reading some of these posts here has caused me to itch like there are bugs crawling all over me.

Get some chickens and seal everything that has openings in the house, the chickens will eat them before they get to the house.

Erod, if you try this, please post a long narrative about how this went. That seems like the makings of a classic OS thread.

It will work and its cheap if you can have some chickens in your yard. They will eat all the bugs and the scorpions. If you don't want chickens, some cats will also hunt them down.

Not to knock this, because it is a good idea, but if it is his dream house I doubt he can have chickens around. The home owner's associations tend to frown on them.
