Not to knock this, because it is a good idea, but if it is his dream house I doubt he can have chickens around. The home owner's associations tend to frown on them.

He may not belong to a Home Owners Association. Of course, I may not have picked up where he said he lived.

I never thought about using chickens before. That's an interesting idea and could explain why some folks around where I live have chickens ... or they could just be really weird folks.

Anyways, if I belonged to an HOA, I would definatly still try it out and explain that I've exhausted all other ideas and was giving one last ditch effort to solve the problem. I hate the HOA. I sure am glad I don't belong to one.

Well, it looks like I need to make a run to the chicken store, buy a cat, and get a barrel of gas in case I need to torch the place. LOL

I had the exterminator do a power spray to the outside of the house, heavy on the side where I'm seeing the most scorpions. They do seem to be isolating more and more to the south side.

The exterminator said that as the neighborhood is built out, the scorpions will likely retreat to other places. It could take a few months.

It's a new construction area, so when the house across the street and to my right are done, I won't have any more ground to break near me.

I see one or two every day or two, so I'm not overrun with them. Hopefully, this can be gotten in check.

I'm just picturing sitting at my computer late at night, when all of a sudden you get that eerie feeling that someone is watching you... and as you pan your head slowly up there is a scorpion looking you dead in the face.

But the worst part is mgo, the chickens that he bought to take care of the scorpion problem, team up with the scorpions, and start pecking and flogging them. Nasty scenario.

Two words: Diatomaceous Earth

This stuff is a miracle for our house. BUT, our problem was ants. However it works the same way (in theory) This stuff is 100% non toxic. YOu don't have to worry about your kids getting sick, cuz there's no poison. And it'll rip these things to shreds like mini razor wire.

I tried everything to stop an ant infestation last year. I mean EVERYTHING. I laid this stuff down and within two days POOF ,no ants.

Now your exterminator may have already tried this, but if he didn't, run don't walk and get you some.

Earwigs are friggin' evil. Every cellar/shed door that you open in the south has thousands of those creepy looking bastards falling out. I swear it looks like they have little bug orgies in the cracks of doors. Ewww.
