The R-Rated movie is slowly becoming a dinosaur. Sure part of it is evolving standards that have lessened the standard to obtain the R rating, but at the end of the day it is filmmakers giving in to an organization that really has no power other than an opinion. Believe it or not, there are no laws on the books requiring theatres to obey the MPAA Rating system, it is all done voluntarily.

Before someone asks, porn is different. The Supreme Court has made that clear.

MassNole, if you haven't yet seen it, definitely check out "This Film Is Not Yet Rated." Really interesting look at the MPAA, which is a censorship organization and how there is ZERO transparency into their organization or process.

Thanks for the heads up! I despise the MPAA for multiple reasons, the first of which using actors who make $20 million a film telling me not to pirate because it only hurts the little people on set. No, you making $20 million a film hurts the little guy, not some nerd downloading a movie on the net and depriving you of $5-8/movie. Sorry, non-related rant now over.

Just read a review off of Digg, and they say that "Yippee-kay-yay-mother****er" is NOT in the final film! The f-word part gets cut off via a gunshot!

Now if that iconic 'Die Hard' phrase is not in the movie, then it shouldn't be called a 'Die Hard' movie!

Guess I'll cry over my DVD collection, and wallow in the greatness that is Hans Gruber and Dulles in the snow (and enjoy working out the math problem THREE ways in the third film).

It sounds like the new director totally butchered the Die Hard "theme." John McClane isn't a "terrorist hunter" or a "superhero." He is/was an ordinary New York Police Officer who often got caught up in some ****. He wasn't out looking to take people down, he was just presented with bad situations.

He isn't a guy who goes out trying to stop terrorists from taking over the world. The movie sounds to be like a day in the life of Jack Bauer; not a day in the life of John McClane.

I dunno about you guys, but this kills my anticipation for this movie. I have loved every Die Hard movie because of the extreme violence and profanity but they sold out for the money. Personally, I think this sucks.

It's greed. The movie industry wants to capture a larger audience so it dumbs down the film.. Look at AVP..Also, double dipping.. The unrated version will be released a few months after the original is out on DVD..

I don't see what the problem is with the rating of the movie. Movies rated R from 15-20 years ago could probably get by with a PG-13 today.

Speaking of Ratings, I remember when the first Robocop had a XXX rating..Its hard to find now, but it was like a Directors cut but they didn't call em Directors cut or Unrated back then...It was also only movie I ever saw that was XXX that wasn't porn...Reason it was XXX was that back then they also didn't have NC-17 & only thing higher than R was XXX...Man was that movie full of Gore & Vulgarity...The Scene where they kill Murphy alone lasted 5-10 minutes...Shoot of his hand, then his forearm, then upper arm...Etc...Entire movie was waaay worse then the original, but was a classic 80's Violence & swearing type movie
