I thought the PG-13 version blew. I have yet to see the unrated.

I hope they make another Die Hard. Hopefully with a new director and an R rating. I want Die Hard that actually resembles the series. I doubt it ever happens though.

I don't know what you want if you don't think this recent movie embodies the spirit of the original. Of course it's not as good as the original but then no action movie ever made is as good as the original Die Hard. And lest you think it's just me I read many, many reviews which stated the same thing, that this movie embodies the spirit of the original and is one of the best in the series.

Yes I do agree it sucks they had to go for the PG-13 rating but overall I thought the movie was very violent and very much like any other Die Hard, less the cussing, which has never been a huge thing that affects movies for me. I did like they added the original line to this one though but I'll agree it seemed tacked on. Not just when he said the full line but it was a tacked on type line overall, regardless if he said the "m'fer" part of the line..

I still don't see how the last one didn't resemble the series. It was just as unrealistic as the other three. The only thing that changed was the rating and that wasn't a big deal, except for the omission of one line.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Yeah I think people got too focused on that issue. And with that being said i'm surprised this was a PG-13 movie, my goodness with this much violence and it's a PG-13 movie? What does that say about our ratings system?

Live Free or Die Hard was nothing like the original Die Hards. This movie was so unrealistic that it was laughable at points, the villains were awful, the attitude was completely different, no swearing(very little), etc...

And since when can John McClane jump on fighter jets?

See this just shows me you don't understand the Die Hard series. John McClane can do whatever the hell he wants to do, LOL!! As for realism, the first movie was not really realistic either. I thought the villains in this one were as good as any other action movie, although I agree nowhere near the quality of Hans and the boys. As for swearing I don't think that makes much of a difference as I said before.

I really can't believe you're complaining about anything being unrealistic in a Die Hard movie.

Re: The new Die Hard movie is PG-13!!!

i mean, i dont expect an action movie to be real life "realistic", i expect some hollywood magic.

but this movie, had a couple of over the top "c'mon, riiighhhtt!" momemts...

                  SPOILERS

no cell phone networks work, everything is pretty much offline,....except Onstar.

Bruce Willis pretty much needs a cast after falling down some steps, but the asian chick gets run over by a car, ran thru a wall, and jumps right off and starts with her bruce lee crap.

just a couple of moments for me, im sure there is more but im watching a game right now.

Just my opion, i could be wrong.

What in the original three Die Hards is unrealistic?

The original Die Hards may have some crazy moments, but never anything as outlandish as driving cars off ramps into helicopters. Or jumping from Semi's onto fighter jets.

Well for starters, in the first movie, one man with a handgun vs 10 or 12 terrorists armed to the teeth is somewhat unrealistic to expect him to win that matchup...then there is that crazy jump off the building with the hose around his waist.

I would agree that the new Die Hard is on a different level of realism. It felt like a Mission Impossible movie. It's not just what McClane does; it's also the whole tone of the movie. In the original, McClane actually seemed vulnerable...Most of the movie was him hiding...He had to pick the terrorists off one by one..***nning through the broken glass, etc.

Also, if I remember correctly, he had to psyche himself up to do the firehose-jump and he knew it was crazy. In Die Hard 4, he took down the helicopter with the car and acted like it was nothing.

As far as realistic action movies go, Die Hard is probably my favorite. As far as unrealistic action movies go, Die Hard 4 is also among the best.

Who says this is unrealistic? Just because you've never seen it happen, it means it can't? Impossible? No. Improbable? Oh, most certainly. Who's to say who doesn't get this lucky in one day?

Let me put it this way... say Bruce Willis was shot dead in the beginning of the movie, in the hacker's house. Are you for the realism now? Do you want the hacker to continue the movie for ya? It's action for action's sake, not realism's sake. It was a fantastic action movie; in my opinion, that's what should matter most, and the rest should probably be let go.

There's a difference between being unrealistic and being believable. It's not like the laws of physics or gravity were defied. But I have to agree that it sucked in the sense that it didn't feel anything like the original Die Hard (not necessarily in terms of believability... sometimes age and budget make this inevitable). That's exactly how I felt with Saw IV when comparing it to Saw. The difference is Saw IV sucked regardless, and would have needed to make major overhauls with the same basic structure if it wanted to be re-written into a different franchise.

The action was great, the choreography was superb, the CGI was plausible, and Bruce Willis is a kick-*** baldy. I am all for a fifth one, but they better do it before the believability of an older Willis doing what he does now becomes 0%.

I think that McClane is not vulnerable anymore is due to the fact that he has gone through so much **** in DH1-3, that he's not afraid anymore.
