Ruined for me when I read that thread I posted earlier from 7/7/07. Dude was sunk from there on. More so when they posted the thread starting article that said he was in Hotels LOL.

Punk arse Hack. Nothing more, Nothing less.

People will continue to watch him for his shoddy act, and his hacky charisma they love so much. LOL.

Man, it is awesome how so many will continue to watch a hack, just for the entertainment regardless of the authenticity of his show's claims.
you're taking television way too seriously. It's 99.9% assured that people watching these shows will never venture in deserts and the amazon rainforest. Unless either of these men show you how to walk out of a campground when your SUV runs out of fuel, then their adventures are purely for entertainment. If you're taking survival skills from tv, you'd probably be better off getting a boyscout handbook.

as Les stated before, he has an emergency cell phone on hand on which he can call in a crew if he is in dire straits. But he has also said that phone has service 50% of the time.

I honestly think Boltman can have a conversation with himself.

Whatever man, I know that when I'm trapped on in the Sahara desert the first thing I'll do is piss on my boxers and put them on my head. I take the show very seriously.

Great!! Keep watching the entertaining hack that orders room service in his comfy hotel.

Watch him all you can, damn near every chance you can get.

I am done here, carry on.
Try to use the words hack, kool-aid, and shoddy a little bit more. It really adds to your credibility, and it doesn't make you look like a crazed person with a completely unreasonable grudge against a guy you don't know.

Actually Les Stroud has done shows about how to survive in a Katrina type flood, actually telling you things to do (and things not to do).

You make a good point, but you can actually learn some stuff. I just know I'll never climb a 200 ft sheer vertical wall when I'm stuck in the Sahara, even though Bear does it no problem.

I find it interesting how there's such a difference in the reactions to these shows. Bear Grylls fans admit he's charismatic and makes an hour long show about survival entertaining. Les Stroud fans say he's more or an everyman that teaches them survival techniques they'll never realistically use. Send me a postcard when you go to the Sahara Desert though.

My opinion is that learning survival techniques you'll never use is about as interesting as watching saturday afternoon truck maintainance shows. It's nice to know dicovery provided two survival shows for whatever your taste is. I guess it's like what they did with the various flavors of CSI.

You guys have never taken a canoe out to an island for a week or two and brought nothing but an extra pair of sweats and another shirt? That's a good time.

I watched MvW a few, and absolutely hated it. Bear Grylls was an annoying host to me, and the show seemed staged.

Survivorman I could watch endlessly though, and I think Les is a lot more entertaining than Bear. I think I have seen his "Plane Crash survival in the canadian winter" about 15-20 times.

Love the episode of Survivorman where he's in the Georgia swamps...was just on again the other night.

Can't wait for the new season.

So someone explain to me how Survivorman works if he doesn't have any camera people...

he sets up like 3 cameras at a time? Because we get different angles during the same conversation...

and then he apparently sets up a camera on one side of a creek, talks about how hard it will be to cross, etc. Then the camera shows him on the other side of the creek just walking away while the camera is still on the other side. WTF does he do, go back and get the camera and do it all over again?
