    Re: Damages

Finished watching Season One of this yesterday.

Great series. Not sure if maybe people decided to switch off after one or two episodes, but it definitely gets better and better as the season progresses.

Great cast of actors, all with a great talent. I really felt like I was watching a series on HBO or Showtime, where they really concentrate on directing actors instead of getting as many stupid angles as possible (a problem on Network TV).

Really looking forward to Season Two starting up on January 7, 2009.

It's obvious what Season Two is about, but fans of the series should be excited to know that Ted Danson is returning and despite obvious issues Zeljko Ivanek will be making some appearances, likely only in flashbacks.

      Re: Damages

After heralding the show as "great" I lost interest because of the irritating flashback mode that had the heroine (Rose Byrne) in present and past tense. It's just me but I can't stand this type of narrative, but will give Season 2 a shot because of the Close-Byrne dynamic, fueled by the fact that Close's character tried to kill Byrne's character last season. I'm not sure if Close's character knows that Byrne's chracter is aware of this. I got this from the previews of Season 2.

        Re: Damages

        I haven't seen any previews.

I agree that bouncing back and forth between flashbacks and present time (especially in the last two episodes of Season One) was irritating, but the show was pretty much using that technique from the beginning.

It's going to continue especially considering that Ray will be making appearances.

Yes, that would indicate flashbacking. I'll try to get over it anyway and watch Season 2.

At least when it comes to television.

Movies...we seem to differ. But that's ok.

                      Re: Damages

Saw the first 15 minutes of the season opener and they are under a similar format as last year. The show opens with Ellen (Rose Byrne) holding a gun to someone saying "you should be scared, you should be terrified" (paraphrasing),among other words spoken to an unknown person. Ellen's face is all you see so the other person in the room probably will not be revealed until the season finale. It then goes back "6 Months Earlier" with Patty (Glenn Close) on Regis and Kelly.

I missed it because I had no opportunity to watch last night. Unfortunately, FX thinks that it should air every rerun of this episode at 2 AM. How stupid is that?

Liked this episode a lot. Glenn Close is such a great actress. Sorry to see her do only one season on The Shield. It's advertised as the "best cast on TV" and that's hard to argue with:
Glenn Close, William Hurt, Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, Timothy Olyphant

Of Course we know how good Ted Danson is. (32 second clip for those with 0 patience)

It's true. The Damages cast rivals any cast on any show.
