Re: 50 Cent will quit if Kanye outsells him..
For the people who hate rap, why did you even enter your thoughts in this thread? All you do is come in here and say rap sucks. Congratulations, I hope you all feel better about yourself. Did you not read the title of this thread?
You like whatever music you like, rap/hip-hop fans like whatever music they like. No need to come in and start arguments.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Regarding the rap debate:
I don't hate rap but I think a lot of the stuff today pales in comparison to the stuff I grew up with. That's not to say that there isn't anything good at all. I like Kanye even if he overloads his songs with samples at least it's a signature thing for him.
I never liked 50 Cent and never will tho.
Anywho, some of the mainstream stuff at least has a good beat and catches my attention but i'm sure the best rap these days is underground stuff.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 50 Cent will quit if Kanye outsells him..
I grew up diehard Hip Hop, and I still love alot of artists out now, but IMO, Bling rap is the new KKK. It's done a better job of holding black youth down than any rascist, and the absolutely shocking graduation rates among these new high-self-esteem-but-zero-future-having young bucks is the proof. Alot, not all, but alot of these young dudes are too comfortable standing on the block being what the industry image tells them is the shiznit...

Music is subjective. Give me a MC with swag and charisma w/o the great lyrics and content over a boring MC with nice lyrics."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Too much swag and they come off as arrogant, SOBs. My favorite "underground" rappers, I think, have a little ego to them as well: Murs, Brother Ali, MF DOOM, etc. I think all of them have charisma, (though DOOM might have less than Murs and Ali) and swag.

Yes because all artists who aren't on MTV don't have swag or charisma. There's nothing wrong with rappers who aren't the best but do have alot of charisma but when you have songs like Laffy Taffy and A Bay Bay, there's something wrong.Last edited by jmood88; 08-12-2007, 09:24 AM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Even still, you're cutting yourself short if you can't find an MC out there who has both of these qualities. Unfortunately, none of these guys really exist in the mainstream (save maybe Eminem and Jay-Z, both of whom are pretty much sellouts at this point), so all you end up getting are rehashed club joints (i.e "Snap Yo Fingers" and "It's Goin' Down," "Magic Stick" and "Candy Shop" to name a few) that get boring after awhile. Combine the fact that with *earmuffs*ty lyrical content and ability, and it's like nails on a chalkboard.
Like many people said out here, go educate yourself a little bit. If you're looking for a start, check out "Bayani" by Blue Scholars or "Hunger Strike" by Silent Knight. If you don't like either of these albums, hip hop PROBABLY isn't for you. This is fine, but at least you can fully understand the spectrum of what you're talking about.Comment

Anybody who can listen to DJ Z-Trip's "Breakfast Club" and NOT like it is certified insane.

Agreed, but that's the story of most genres with a well-defined mainstream outlet. The more progressive and consistent music is mostly found in the underground.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment
