I came in with the expectations of a live action movie of the cartoon and it lived up that and me in more. If anyone is going in expecting a killer plot with loads of twists and turns and you were going to the wrong movie. The characters are supposed to be over the top and say cheesy lines. I really don't think it's fair of the movie to expect more, I for one hope this becomes a franchise.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: G.I. Joe movie
I think my expectations were so low that I actually enjoyed the movie. There were some things that really bothered me, such as:SpoilerDuke being much younger than Hawk, Cobra Commander being a mastermind scientist and not a bumbling idiot like the cartoon, the Baroness/Duke storyline, the Scarlett/Ripcord storyline (it was Scarlett and Duke, not Ripcord!).
I did really like everything with Snake Eyes/Stormshadow though. Overall, it was decent, but that was probably due to my low expectations to begin with.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College EaglesComment

Wasn't impressed.
Agreed. In all my rage, I forgot to mention that their storyline was the only entertaining aspect of the film, though I was disappointed with the limited environment in their duel."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: G.I. Joe movie
I had a bad news family week and friends thought it would be a good idea to go out and get away from it and they wanted to see GI Joe. I thought, oh well, I'll let go for an action flick and just try to enjoy it. But, the raging critic in me came out and I just kept shaking my head as I watched.
That's cool that you worked on the film. What did you do? I had a friend work on it as well."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I liked it. Sienna Miller is smokin' hot. Good fight scenes. In no way is the movie awful. Maybe mediocre.Comment

I didn't expect anything else - the two of them were always the best part of the cartoons, too.Comment

Re: G.I. Joe movie
Just got back. Preposterously awesome. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would bother reviewing a movie like this because it was just completely unreviewable in any context. Did it have tons of action? Hell yes. Could you have possibly crammed any more action, CGI, gadgets and ridiculousness into the movie? Probably not. Did Sienna Miller look absolutely smoking as the Baroness? Of course. Did practically none of it make almost any sense? Pretty much. I felt like I needed to shower after watching the movie. I would definitely recommend seeing it though, if only because it may be a long time before something this crazy comes down the pike again. Until the inevitable sequel. But man, that movie was f'ing awesome. I feel like actually joining GI Joe right now.
One beef....
SpoilerThe rise of Cobra? More like the rise and fall of Cobra, all captured within like 30 seconds. Destro's face turns to metal, Cobra Commander finally dons the mask and I'm like, "HELL YEAH." Cobra Commander has Destro bowing at his feet, you see them from the side angle of the submarine and you're like, "YES! Cobra has risen!" Then Duke is like, "I'm going to arrest you," and the next thing you see is Cobra Commander and Destro in jail. WTF? Ok, so Zartan is the POTUS and apparently he'll be like, "Release those incredibly dangerous criminals who blew up the Eiffel Tower and conducted horrible experiments on human subjects" and everyone will be like, "Yes sir." But WTF? I expected Cobra Commander and Destro to go sailing off into the sunset to fight another day. What's GI Joe 2 going to open up with, a bunch of Cobra grunts in a car waiting for Cobra Commander and Destro to come out of jail after they bail them out like the beginning of ****ing Ocean's 11? WTF? What a lame ending.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
