That's definitely the most logical explanation so far. The Oceanic Six made some decision to leave the Island where they must have been given an ultimatum, most likely by the people who have just arrived on the Island.

What my early, early guess is that....

The groups are already divided, perhaps it comes to a point where the Helicopteries want something from Locke's side of the group. The Six are offered the helicopter if Jack helps them capture/find/do something against Locke. Jack does as asked and is given the keys to the chopper, told never to come back and tell the mainland all the survivors died. He flies as many people who'll fit on the chopper (six) back to the mainland and the lies begin.

The Noami thing bothered me a little. She's been stabbed in the back yet manages to get up and limp into the jungle (which appears to be about a 100 yards away) with no one noticing? Then she manages to climb a tree while 95% dead? I'm not going to dwell on this but it was a little far fetched.

LOL, we've seen polar bears on a tropical island, magical smoke monsters, cripples who can now walk again, people surviving gunshot wounds, invisible talking people, mysterious underground bunkers, gigantic four-toed statues, etc., etc. and THAT'S what you find far fetched?!?

MAN... I know I'm not the only one who feels this show has made a complete turnaround from the early parts of season 3. I remember a group of us releasing our frustration on how the show continued to raise new questions without answering others.

The FF's really give us an idea that there is a resolution here... and it was simply brilliant of the writers to bring it in right about now. Again... just brilliant.

Although I love this show and enjoyed last night's episode I honestly can't see how this will all be wrapped up and make any sense. Especially since the writers have ruled out things such as purgatory and time travel and the like.

At first I thought the Oceanic 6 were going to be the people who got separated from the main group. Hurley in the Jungle, Locke because he's hanging out in the love shack with a creepy rocking chair, Jack & Kate because they were hunting Naomi and 2 others.

The cop asking about Anna Lou Chia Pet. Hurley denies ever knowing anything. I think his/their lies would come unravelled if Charlie or any other passengers really did exist. I think Hurley wants to be in that institution to take pills and hop to forget.

Who was Hurley's visitor, the bald black guy. I think he was sent by that ageless guy on the island on a fact finding mission.

If Desmond's explosion made the island visible for a split second, what is still causing the island to be invisible. I thought the electro magnetic device that controlled all of this was destroyed.

I agree, you are just going to have to watch and be entertained, but you can't go into this anymore like its a great puzzle to figure out. That went out the window when they basically said the numbers were pointless. The writers have changed the story line, there is no way this show is following their original story line. There are just too many things from the first 2 seasons that have led to nowhere. There will be no answers to many of the questions, unfortunately.

I think something must happen over these next few seasons to really fracture the group if only six of them make it off the island. Jack has been adamant from the start of the show that they're all getting off the island and he hates to leave anyone behind for any reason. There's no way the current Jack, as we see him on the island right now, would take a free ride off the island with five other people while leaving a whole host of people behind.

Something must happen, more dramatic than even the Jack/Locke split we witnessed last night, that leads Jack to leave people behind on the island. Up until now, that just hasn't been his nature.

You're right, that's what i'm trying to do, take each episode as one individual nugget of enjoyability instead of trying to figure out the entire thing anymore. I don't think they can explain everything but I guess if they can wrap up the overall basis of what happened that will have to be enough. I just get the feeling that the Lost season finale in a few years is going to be the biggest "WTF? what about....." moment in television history.

Did you guys see the actor who plays Hurley had a blog about his theory and his theory involves clones and cloning, he speculated that the people on the flight were cloned and the flight proceeded back to the mainland as normal but the people on the island actually were clones and had memories implanted of the people and the plane wreck.

That doesn't really explain a ton of other stuff though like the Smoke Monster and the like but it's still an interesting theory. BTW - I guess the producers of Lost made Hurley take down his blog.

what if Jack's dad is one of the Oceanic Six? In the season 3 flash forward, Jack made the statement that his Dad was upstairs at the hospital...

And Jack's dads coffin was empty in season 1...

And Jack saw his dad walking around the island in season 1...

And now it appears Jack's dad is sitting his 'Jacob's chair....

and in the season 3 finale, Kate says she has to get back to someone...

Sawyer is WAY to obvious of an answer there....

Which means, Kate is with Jack's dad!

Because early on didnt Jack suspect that his dad was dating the woman he 'loved'??? (his exwife)? Talk about foreshadowing....

Man this ISH sucks!!
I've always been behind on this series and catch up when it comes out on DVD, I own all 3 seasons but this is the first time I've actually watched it while it was on t.v and now I have to wait a week for another one
I love this show and last night was a great season premiere.
Also do u think that Jack will soon find out that Clair is his step-sister??

Over the past year I have felt the same way. I love the mystery behind the show and when it is gone, I am going to have a void.

Maybe something happens where everyone is killed off except the Oceanic Six. Similar to how the Others killed off the Dharma people?
