hurley made the reference that jack looked better without the beard. The season 3 finale flashforward jack had a beard. Now this reference hurley makes could be 1 of two things...it could be the beard jack had while on the island or the beard he had during the flash forward. If it is first option (beard from the island) then that means that something happens to jack after this meeting with hurley that causes jack to want to go back. However if it is the second option (beard from season 3 flashforward) then something happened between his meeting kate and the meeting with hurley that caused him to change his mind on wanting to go back to the island. With what we know both options seem probable to me...I'm going to go with option number two because I think the writersare going to be extra tricky like that.

The actor who plays Jin (Daniel Dae Kim, I believe) was the last guy to get a DUI. Even the actor who played Mr. Eko got a traffic violation before being thrown around by the black smoke. If Jin's fate is sealed by that, looks like Sun's child might not have either parent upon arrival.

The guy who played Eko wanted off the show, and that's why he was killed off.

The numbers aren't insignificant, they are just a plot device that adds to the theme of coincidence vs. fate. Did they really have meaning or were they just coincidentally the same as Hurley's numbers? I honestly don't think they are going to never be explained again, it just may be something that is held off for a while.

I think a lot of you might benefit from reading some side-articles about the show like the one I posted earlier. I'm not saying I know for sure that this show will get wrapped up the way we want, but they've said they will not do anything like The Sopranos did, and I guess I'm more of the Locke mentality as I have faith that this will all come together (lame, huh? haha). If it doesn't, well I definitely am having fun watching it each week, so it is a nice 45 break from life.

I might be wrong but that's how I thought that exchange went.
And if I'm right, then this flash-forward was actually before the flash-forward we saw in the Season 3 finale.

I certainly hope so as I didn't feel that the numbers could be just coincidence. They add up to 108 (which is how much time alloted between pushing the button), it was on the side of the hatch, Hurley got rich from it, it summoned the French peoples boat to the island.
Way too much to be a coincidence in my opinion.

Yep, you guys are right....well...it was an interesting theory anyway. At least we know that something is going to happen to Jack in a flashforward that will change Jack's mind. PS....Does anyone else find it interesting that Hurley never missed any shots?

It's obvious from Jack's drug/alcoholic decline that something bad happened on the island that none of them want to talk about or deal with.
Did they sacrifice the lives of many so the Oceanic 6 could survive?

I'm sure Jack had some Master plan to save everyone, but it got thwarted. On top of this, maybe the 6 wanted to leave the island and the others were convinced by Locke & Ben to stay behind. I think the other passengers remain alive and thats the secret they are keeping. The rest of the world thinks the others are dead, and they are not telling otherwise because they want to get back to the island themselves or the others are staying there of their own free will and they promised not to tell. If the rest of the world knew the story, it would create all types of complications.

They are just there like another poster said to emphasize the dynamic of coincidence and fate. So in my eyes the writers are basically telling us they are insignificant to the story line now. I am positive that they were a much bigger part of the story line originally. I would be suprised if they are evver mentioned again in any detail.

I'm super psyched to find out what the secret was Jack was talking about. Didn't think we were going to get another Flash-Forward but now that I've seen two the possibilities seem endless.

I don't really agree that we didn't learn anything new.

The scene where the "Oceanic attorney" visits Hurley was pretty intense and sets the tone for after the Oceanic 6 get off the island. A not very nice person is digging to see if there are survivors remaining on the island. BTW, in a review I read the attorney's last name means...

We learn there's a secret the Oceanic 6 are keeping and its weighing on them to the point Hurley is back in a mental hospital. We also learn that is what likely sent Jack over the edge to become the way we saw him in last season's finale.
