Believe me, I liked the way the show was heading in season one, better than now. But because the writers have clearly changed direction, our theories have too as well, and this is the best I have right now. The show has always been fate vs. coincidence, faith vs. science. I don't see why the island couldn't be the ultimate test of faith.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: ****Official LOST Season 4 Discussion (Contains Spoilers)**
1) It was an experiment. The people who crashed were all put into some type of "therapy" to overcome problems in their past life. Their memory was erased(shock therapy), but flashbacks kept coming through reminding them of their past lives. The whole island was a set up. Possibly not even an island at all. The "others" were the hospital orderly's and when someone was cured or resolved their problem they were removed from the program.
2) Similar to theory 1. But they were put on the island as part of an experiment. The plane crash was staged as an excuse for all these people to be there together. They put all different races and backgrounds together to see how they would react when presented with different things. Similar to the Polar Bear being put on a tropical island to see how it would adapt. The "fake" plane crash would eventually be revealed and they would have to figure how they were all picked to be in this experiment. It had some common link, because they were all inter related somehow, but they would have to find the link.
3. The numbers....Ah the numbers. It was some type of divine lining of the stars that brought these people together. Trying to dig into the numerology was indeed interesting. Possibly the thing that bound them all together. See above.
4. Purgatory. The flashbacks coming from your life flashing infront of your eyes before you die. All the children were taken away as they wouldn't have as much to atone for. When resolution was made, they moved on. Remember when anyone used to die on the island, they would get resolution to their haunting flashbacks.
Thats about all I remember. But everything has changed so much from season 1.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: ****Official LOST Season 4 Discussion (Contains Spoilers)**
One example would be the cable connected to The Looking Glass. That was there from the beginning. Locke being paralyzed, then not has to be a very significant part of the overall story. Also, I think when they first discovered the hatch, they knew where it was going to take the show, and that was probably halfway through S1. I don't think you could create something like that and then hope you think of a way to explain it.
Season 1 seems like it was about their arrival and learning to sustain their own lives while trying to get rescued. That didn't happen, so you move onto the hatch and S2. Season 2 was meant to introduce us to the Dharma Initiative, The Others, and some backstory on the island. Season 3 focused on The Others, and now Season 4 seems to be focused on the "rescue boat." I heard it described once as similar to the Harry Potter books or something. Yeah, there are storylines for each season, but ultimately they all fit into the grand scheme of the entire story, and the payoff will be at the end.
Of course, if I'm wrong, this will probably become the most hated show in TV history.Listen to some of my covers:

See, now after re-watching every episode starting with S1 before the premiere, I disagree. There are many things that foreshadow things in Season 3 in Season 1. I think the minor details have changed from season to season but the overall plot seems to be pretty much the same.

The numbers drives me nuts. For them to focus on them for so many episodes just to disregard them, seems like a sham.
Walt- will he disappear forever.
Some of the others (Ethan) clearly had super human abilities.
The smoke monster. How will they ever explain that thing.
And then there was the garbage that was season 2:
Anna Lou Chia Pet. They spent over 1/2 of season 2 just focusing on her. I understand the DUI caused problems, but that had to be going somewhere. Unless season 2 was just filler.
Those are some of the main things, but there are other questions too.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

While I agree that they may be able to tie one grand plot together and make the story plausable. I could probably write a novel on all the unanswered questions. And the thing is, we only see on the show what the writers and directors want or allow us to see to any questions that arise should definitely be answered in my opinion.

I don't see the connection so I don't see how those questions being unanswered means that the story has changed course.
The plan was always there. People can believe what they want but the plan was always there.
Honestly, I think when people say everything has changed and thus Season 1 was a lie they are just covering for themselves because they can't believe that it's three seasons later and they still can't figure out what's going on."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I understand the above but how do the answers to those questions even support your theories?

Well here's the deal, we see only what they want us to see and focus on what they they focus on. Its not like we get a 3d view, its 2d, and its only what they have shown us. So season 1, they focused mainly on the numbers, the hatch, and the relationships, season 2 they focused mainly on Anna Lou Chia Pet, Libby, and Echo, and Desmond, season 3 we got the Dharma people. Its not like we could do extensive research to figure things out. We only saw what they presented. It would be easy to keep people "Lost" especially when you have months to change direction in between seasons.
Anyway, enough of that.
I have a question. Whose submarine is that?
And the ageless doctor guy on the island that recruited Juliet? Who is he working with? When he appeared to Ben, they looked like they were native type people in rags. Did Ben Destroy the Dharma Group with Dharma Gas Poisonous Gas or did he get that from the ageless doctor?
That ageless doctor has been making any trips back and forth since the sub blew up, so maybe the freighter people are looking for him. Also, some of the weapons they are using are fairly new like the assault rifles, so who was sending those in, were they Dharma issued or did they come from the ageless doctors company?
Either way, if you have enough cash for submarines, assault rifles, fake company's, etc. You would probably have enough cash to take care of the rag tag survivors if you wanted. They obviously want the Oceanic survivors alive even though they new that they would be causing problems on the island.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

I know someone watching Season 2 right now and I keep reminding him that Season 2 just wasn't great. It was decent but overall that season was a mess to me.
The point in which that season saved itself is Ben getting caught."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: ****Official LOST Season 4 Discussion (Contains Spoilers)**
Ben inherited the submarine and assault rifles from the Dharma group that was killed by the poisonous gas. While Ben killed his father with the gas, the Others he alligned himself with took care of the rest of the Dharma Intiative. I'm pretty sure it was Dharma made gas. I think the ageless doctor you're wondering about is Richard. Richard was the guy who welcomed Ben into the hostiles, who came to be known as the Others. Richard's company he represented to Julliet was a front company for the Others. I don't think Richard has left the island since Locke blew up the sub. Ben's backstory episode (The Man Behind The Curtain) in season 3 is where all this happens.
I think we need a back story on Richard and his clan. They were supposedly "natives" to the island. He's obviously tied to the outside world. There has to be other means to the outside world for him besides that sub. Because I can't imagine he could take off in that sub, park it in Seattle or whatever city, gain relationships with people, set up a ficticious company, trick Juliet, and come back.
I think when he met Ben the first time, he was in a costume to appear native to the island. This guy must have a very long history that we need insight into.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
