And since I just saw this for the first time yesterday I have to comment on the Season 3 episode where Jim came in dressed as Dwight.... probably funniest moment I've ever seen on TV!!!

I'm positive their breakup will happen as the season finale. It'll make for huge ratings.
Personally, I hate their little romance and I would have preferred if they could have drawn out her engagement/relationship to Roy much longer. That was funny stuff and I liked the tension between Jim, Roy and Pam. Especially when other cast members like 'Kevin' tell Jim "I've got your back".

If I wanted to watch a love-sitcom I'd watch Friends reruns. It's quite obvious the show has sold out to grab more female viewers.

The rest of the show is still pretty funny, with Michael going over the top too much this season. But it's still an entertaining watch.

What I find funny is that in the beginning I loved the main characters - Pam, Jim, Michael and Dwight. But now they've jumped the shark with those 4 guys while giving more air time to the other Dunder Mifflin workers. I love Creed and Stanley has said some pretty funny stuff of late himself.

I wouldn't be opposed to them dumping Jim and Pam off the show entirely and focused more on the rest of the workers constantly getting on each others nerves.
Jim and Pam should only be there to pull pranks on Dwight. That's what their best at. I hope their relationship is dropped and they can get back to being funny instead of 'cute and lovey'. What's next? Chevy Chase remaking "Legends of the Fall"?

Dwight K. Schrute does not wish to jump the shark. As he'd tell you, it's humanly impossible. Thankfully Dwight is a superhuman so nothing is impossbile for him... he just chooses not to.

Disagree here... many of the great comedies go through different situations... Love, death, heartbreak etc... I'm perfectly fine with them continuing their story archs... plus I think many of the stronger endings of the show have been downers or serious moments... Who can deny the ending to "Casino Night" wasn't amazing?

Yes, a lot of sitcoms go through love-triangles and it's because of this that they ultimately fall flat. Cheers actually got better once Diane left - hence no more love interest for Sam. Happy Days sucked when they had the Fonze move in with that broad. By the end of Friends, it wasn't a comedy but more of a dramedy. "Will Rachel and Ross get back together?" Who f'ing cares? I don't tune into comedy's for that garbage. Comedy's are supposed to be funny, not depressing or heart wrenching.
If I want drama or love stories I'll watch Grey's Anatomy or ER (which I don't).
There's so few good comedies out there that it's great when a show succeeds. Now 'The Office' is taking that away from me.
Thank goodness we still have 30 Rock. That's the best comedy on TV today. The only love affairs going on in that show is Alec Baldwin with himself and Tracy Morgan and his fame.

understadable... I guess I just like a show with a little more balance to it then others do.

Scratching my head on this one. I actually watched Cheers on DVD through Netflix, so I was able to watch every episode through Season 8 chronologically over a pretty short period of time. Cheers was WAY better in the first few seasons with Diane. They made Diane really obnoxious towards the end (I think cause they knew she was leaving so wanted to make the departure easier and there was some legit bad blood there), but the show, overall, was a lot better.

And once Diane left, they simply replaced the love interest for Sam with Rebecca. That relationship was never as interesting as the Sam/Diane relationship, so it never worked and it seemed they just threw it in there for the sake of it.

Back to the topic of the Office, I think the new season has been solid so far. I like the Pam and Jim thing still. I am looking foward to when they go back to the 30 minute format, though. An hour was good for the first episode, but there's really no reason for these last few to have been an hour, too.

I hated Diane. The show was so much better without that overrated snob on the show. I thought it was much better with Rebecca and Woody. To each his own.

But that wasn't really a 'love interest' thing going with Rebecca. He pursued her but she wanted nothing to do with him. That's what made it so funny. Him always trying to get in her pants and her shooting him down.

And in all honesty, you're the first person I've ever heard say that the show was better with Diane than with Rebecca. To me, it was a completely different show once she left - and for the better.
Reruns used to run all the time back in the day and when it went through the Diane years, I'd ignore it until they got into the Rebecca era.

Not to mention that when she left they concentrated a lot more on the exterior characters. Norm, Cliff, Woody, Carla, Fraser, Paul. And then they introduced Robin Colcourt and Henry the french bartender.

Those were all awesome characters and the show flourished with them. But it only happened because the writers got away from trying to write all the Sam-Diane drama. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

IMO, Cheers was a great show during the Diane and Coach years. During the Rebecca/Woody years it became a good sitcom that got a lot more silly. After season 4, they started having more and more shows at different locations with some pretty ridiculous plots. Still a good sitcom, but no longer a great show.

                              Woody <<< Coach

I liked Rebecca when she first came on, but she got more and more ridiculous as the seasons went on and it made me hate when she was part of an episode. Much like Ross on Friends. So maybe I shouldn't say that I liked the Diane years better than the Rebecca years, I just liked Diane a lot better than Rebecca.
