I just got the new iPod Touch. I am still learning about it, but I like what I have seen so far. Having some issues connecting to some WiFi networks, but other than that, I haven't had any problems. I would recommend that you buy some kind of protective case for it. The back seems like it can be scratched very easily.

Yeah I am definitly looking to buy a case. I have pretty much decided that I am gonna get the 16 gb one on friday, because I havent been able to find any info on any deals for BF or the holiday season so why wait? Plus I'm pretty sure the apple store still offers a student discount.

So what kinda of cases would people recomend? I am not looking to spend much on a case but I would like something that has a rubber or silicon case with a protective screen cover too. Any suggestions?

I'm currently at the old school 30gb iPod and wanting a 32gb iPod Touch.

I'm not looking for a phone since I'm still under contract with Sprint for atleast another year or more but would this be worth the upgrade? I love getting online on my phone but it's frustrating since it doesn't really work well on my LG Rumor and I just saw The Weather Channel app and fell in love.

Any advice on whether 32gb is worth the $400?

Also General Question: Is there anyway that I could directly transfer the songs from one iPod to another or would I have to download everything all over again? I have nothing on my computer since it'd slow it up too much so this bit of advice would be helpful.

I know nothing about iTunes or iPods (always use other MP3 players) and I have a question for you vets.

Can you build a playlist through iTunes on your PC and have it show up on your iPod? I'm starting to get annoyed with taking an hour to create a playlist on my current MP3 player which is starting to bite the dust anyway.

Yes. Add-in the Genius feature and you'll be amazed at how many playlists you can create.

Looks like I know what my big Christmas gift is going to be this year. The 120 GB Classic iPod is only $225, huh? I may go buy one tonight actually.

Go for it.

Any serious music lover would love what you have available to you in the classic.

As for playlists... once you get the hang of them in iTunes, you'll wonder why you waited this long. I believe smart playlists have been around for 5 years. They can complete change how you enjoy your music.

Good stuff, I'm excited. I Google'd that "Genius" thing and it sounds like just became available in September, dunno if that's wrong or what.

What does the iTouch offer that makes it so much more expensive? I mean, 32GB for $400 or 120GB for $225 w. the classic.

Everything.

It's practically a mini computer. PDA, wireless internet, tons of applications, email, larger screen for video...

Outside of that, if you just want to enjoy your music, I would personally say the Classic is more than enough. You may enjoy the touch screen more than you think, though, as I've had several friends and family who have ended up with a touch/iPhone after they've spent some time with it.

I'd go to an Apple Store and check it out if you really aren't sure. But again, for simple music management and storage the Classic can't be beat. The touch is just eye-candy for your music.

Ah, yeah I have no need for all that nonsense. I just need tons of space for my music. I'm all for converged communications and such but I don't need the extra fancy stuff.

anyone know how I can get the new software for the touch? I'm on version 1. Something and want to download podcast directly to the touch but do not want to pay 9.95 for the new software.

I've been reading more on this, I don't see that feature mentioned anywhere. This Genius thing sounds more like a Pandora for iPod users.

Just to be clear, if I create a 500 song playlist in iTunes can I click a button or two and have it all transferred to my iPod so I have the exact same playlist on the iPod?

Yes, at least I can with the Touch. You make a playlist in iTunes, have your iPod plugged in and set to not automatically add songs, and then you drag that playlist onto your iPod for it to transfer.
