Kevin Rose unearths redesigned iPod nano, digs for more?

Kev also claims that the iPod lineup will undergo "fairly large" price cuts to avoid the market cannibalization assumed by the lower $199 iPhone 3G purchase price. The iPod touch, which currently starts at $299 for 8GB, will see some slight cosmetic changes as well as a new 2.1 firmware update (which will obviously make its way to the iPhone). Tagging along with the iPod refresh is a new iTunes 8.0 which, according to Rose's sources, deserves the full point upgrade based on all the new features and functionality it brings. All this, "in the next 2-3 weeks."

Can somebody give me an indepth review of the iTouch?

Also, is there a new iTouch coming out at some point.

Ugh, why the hell would they redesign the nano AGAIN just a year later? And go back to the old shape nontheless?? I like the square shape MUCH better.

Very lame Apple, very lame.

Yeah, it really bummed me out. I wanted the square Nano in 16GB, I'm not buying the new one as I hate the look of it, plus I'm wondering if it even fits all the iPod accessories (my clock radio dock and what not).

LOVE the look of the new one.

Many people hated the square look. Plus, you have a widescreen in the new one.

Love it. I may actually get one just to use instead of the iPhone during workouts. That orange is niiiiiiiiiiiice.

I'm a big fan of the new Touch, but not enough to replace mine after just 1 year. Speaker, volume control on the side, it's starting to be more of what it should have been at launch. Apple's got a war with itself now. iPhones are selling like mad, so that makes people not need iPods as much. Therefore they'll get more features and be cheaper as we go on.

At this point with the Touch and iPhone, Apple is screwing Apple due to how similar both products are and of course the phone is going to win out over the Touch if someone is looking for both.

I bought the Touch about 4-5 months ago and those features alone aren't anything to make me want the 2G Touch. Speak volume on the side and the new battery life at 36 hours of music are the only nice new features, but not worth the upgrade. I updated my Touch to FW 2.1 since I had bought 2.0 and I don't notice the FW doing anything to improve battery life to the 1G models. I wish this was the case.

I hear ya...the new stuff is cooler, but not 300 bucks cooler. I'm just gonna beat the hell out of my Touch for another year or two and they'll eventually have to top themselves.

So my 20 gb 4 year old Ipod Click wheel has ( i think) died. So it looks like I am in the market for a new mp3 player. I have gotten so used to apple's itunes and ipods that I think I want to purchase another one. So looking around and doing very minimal research I was leaning towards the 16gb Apple Itouch. Can anyone give any reviews? Also another concern of mine is that with black friday and the holiday season around the corner could a price drop be coming? Or could I even snag one of these for considerably less on BF?
